[News] Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection project and new films

Code Geass's 10th Anniversary event took place last night in Japan with the following announcements.

*Code Geass: Fukkatsu no Lelouch (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection) will be the title of a new Code Geass project. It is a sequel to R2 with the original director, Goro Taniguchi. No word on whether it is a tv series or movie, but it sounds very promising.

*Three films will be released starting in 2017 which will be a compilation of the original two season anime series. New scenes will be added.

*The 10th Anniversary event which featured the original seiyuu, anime director, and artists (Hitomi and Ali Project) will be streamed on Bandai's anime service December 23rd. And it will be released on Blu-ray/DVD April 2017.

Does anyone else recall way back when the new Geass projects were being announced that Kawaguchi, the Code Geass producer made a comment about he'd love see a version of Code Geass on stage? (I certainly recall it, just because of pirouetting Suzaku jokes).

Well, check out this year's announcement for Lelouch's birthday.

ANN has helpfully translated the relevant details: In April of 2012, there are going to be 13 performances over 9 days of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion: Sōran Eve Matsuri (Riot's Eve Festival) at the Mozart Hall at Tokyo's Katsuhika Symphony Hills

More details and ticket pre-orders will be open on Christmas Day.

I went to Lelouch's birthday event this afternoon and figured I'd drop off some of the details. They were filming so I'm pretty sure this event will be on DVD, and even though it was very short (about 90 minutes) I have a feeling I'm going to buy it because it was a very... touching event.
