Rumor is probably due to that 12-5 announcement, which is timed well for an announcement of a series to start in January.

Would be interesting to see what they'd do with a third season.

That's true, they could do an adaptation of one of the spinoff mango. Or just do it Gundam-style and make a whole new AU that takes the basic set pieces of Geass and takes them in a completely different direction.

My guess would be something set a few years after R2's ending, with a mostly new cast. They can't really go the Gundam route, as the setting is too important to the series to be tossed out like that.

I'd prefer an adaptation of Knightmare of Nunnally, though.

I think this was spawned from the "Revival" of Code Geass coming. It seemed to get everyone up in a frenzy, so some rumors of a new series were bound to come out.

Eh, I don't think Code Geass would be half as interesting without Lelouch. Kallen's story is resolved and Suzaku's future is best left ambiguous and C.C. was never particularly interesting to me in the first place. I'd love to see Knightmare of Nunnally or a similar AU with a tighter storyline, but that could probably be done with an OVA.

Well, it would be really study to have an epilogue with "yeah, he's dead" and it would destroy the emotion of the last episode, as well as the meaning of most of Lelouch's character if he were alive.
