Apparently the Geass team got a lot of questions about the recap episode, so they decided to post an explanation up on the official blog. Translation as follows.

"...The next episode, 8.5 (recap) will be an organized look back at what Lelouch has done in the episode 1-8 and his past.

We've received a lot of requests from viewers who started watching in the middle about what sort of story happened before and that they wanted to see it. We've assembled this recap episode to answer this request. We hope our viewers who did not start from the middle would have more enjoyment of the later episodes as a result.

As for those who's been our viewers right from the beginning, we'd like you to think of this episode as a reaffirmation. If you'd like to bring your friends to watch it with you, it would make us very happy.

Thank you in advance for your support of [Code Geass : Lelouch of the Rebellion] from now on.

...well, I did, but nothing's up there yet. If something's put up, I'll make an edit on this post and give you the breaking news. (Or make a new post if it's further apart and too much of a pain to dig) At least it seems that Episode 8.5 is made because they're answering fan demand and/or this is a good place to recap for middleroad watchers because things started changing post-8, instead of not having enough time to make a proper 9.0. (They did not seem to expect the popularity, haha) Or it could be just pretty words (ironic, if it is) but I'm going to give them the benefit of doubt, it's been very good series thus far. Does the DVD comment mean 8.5 won't count towards the amount of episodes we're getting? We can only hope.

So there's a quota on the amount of times you can post to the comm even when your information is new and useful?

When I see verity_isle come up on my friendslist at Code Geass, I know it'll be something interesting; she's a really decent contributor to this community and I really don't see why it's a problem when that person actually bothers to go get this stuff and post it for all to see. Having fangirled many shows where I have been lucky to have maybe one or two other people watching it, being in an active fandom like this is a treat.

there isn't a quota as to how many times you can post in the comm. i'm not even saying that she shouldn't post anything new at all. i'm just saying, she could post something new, then when something else comes up, she can update the first post with the new information, if it's just the one right after. of course, if she thinks it deserves a new post, post it in a new post.

the point is, i'm not telling her not to post at all or post a certain amount of posts every day. i'm just asking her to condense them together if possible. in a small community like this, the same person posting a lot of posts can look spammish, even when it's not. if the traffic gets higher or something, verity_isle can go back to posting a new post when she sees something new.

i know that feeling when you love a certain animanga, only to know no one knows it. like wild life, the only person who knew it was an anon ;____;

Wild Life...is that the manga where the main character is a veterinarian with a special hearing ability, by any chance? Because if it is, I love that manga. :D

(The only other manga with the same name that I can think of is Reiko Shimizu's story about a boy who keeps a pet lioness, and while it's great, there's only one volume out ;_; )

Frustratingly, I do not remember much details. -_-; It's been like...a year or so since I last read a volume. Yes, our publisher sucks. We're in a comm for a story about a guy trying to demolish an empire with unconventional means. I'm sure he won't disapprove

Well, there IS a difference between fan efforts and publisher effort. I mean, I don't pay for scanlations, I pay for the localization. They should at least have some thought about their readership. -_- OMG And no, you didn't. :DDDD

oh god your publisher does suck, not being mean or anything DDD: i'm happy i have the advantage of taiwan publications here XDD even if he does, i'll go make suzaku elope with euphemia. and bring nunnally along too.

i tend to like the released volumes here, but then scanlations are good for speed :D course i didn't ^___^ i'm the good girl around here :D

Oh, they do, they do. This particular publisher does awesome translations so much that I never wanted to buy the original Japanese, but they like to drop series that didn't sell well. The others...the speedy one has worse translation than gg's subs, and the other one with decent translation that didn't drop series are as fast with releases as snails. One manga in particular ended like....5 years after the Japanese ending. -_-; And steal his superhero comics. You know he has them, from the way Zero dress. You know he LURVES them

Same, although some volumes are MUCH WORSE. I do read some series almost entirely off the net. :D Of course, with Wild Life, it is then debatable if scanlations are faster...

aww that's bad DD: the translations here are good most of the time, coz there's only 2-4 main companies here, each company taking a particular 'group' of manga. culturecom takes most of the JUMP ones, while tongli takes the magazine/sunday ones. another publisher takes the majority of the shoujo ones, and the last one takes whatever's left XDDDD that's.. way too slow D: OH DEFINITELY. HE WORSHIPS THEM EVERYDAY BEFORE GOING TO SCHOOL ♥

i can't stand reading manga on the net, i'm fine with chapters, but not with volumes. the feeling of holding a manga has much more appeal to me XDDD it's hard to find fast scanlations.. especially with series like Wild Life and MAR... this is of course where the advantage of knowing chinese comes in :D

OMG.

I really, really have to thank you. It's okay, though. It is getting frequent, and I'm sure I'll find a middle ground somewhere so we won't be much too late for the news and there won't be too many posts. (I don't like editing since it's a clear disadvantage to those who browse via flist, so to stockpiling we go)

Oh, and...I'm not sure if this is rude, but can I ask a question? If I understand correctly, you have or have access to Newtype December...so, is that Bokura no Hibi thing in there yet? Newtype arrived here yesterday, and when I phoned the store, they said it's sold out. -_-;; Typical of something with a Suzumiya Haruhi booklet. If the novel's not in there, I'll call it a loss. If it is, I'll order it along with my December Amazonjp bookbinge.

well, it's like one page per issue, so there's not much really ^__^;; i tend to buy the 3 main magazines then scan them 2 weeks before the newer issues come, but now i'm cutting down on money, so the past few month's scans are on my LJ :)

starting.... in half an hour or so XDDD i used 200ppi, but i tend to half the image size when i upload them for people to cover up my crap merging skills, but they are skill completely readable at about.. 800x1000 or something XDDD

800x1000 should be sufficient, yes. XD So 200 dpi is okay for scanning? CGing takes like 600 dpi. It's insane on the file size.

yes ^____^ stuff that are too long for their own good kill you when you want to translate them. *thinks of the manga* i warn you, the picture with the 'novel' freaks me out. and i'm not that easily scared DD:

at the original size, the font is like.. font size 14 on a 1024x768 screen o___o;; well i guess 200 is alright for scanning ^__^;; some of the details that shouldn't be there can be scanned out tho... 200dpi is already 2MB per file, i can't think of 600dpi O__O;;

Ahaha, manga. The days when I used to translate them. XD As for the picture accompaniement...whatever it is, it's canon (or damn close to it). If canon wants to scare me, let it does so. Let's called it 'short story' instead, though. XD

The 600 dpi is for grayscale, though. XD So it ends up being like...I think the general size is around 5-7 mb depending on what I scan. Which is the reason I don't do much fanart lately. XDD;;

I only do them when everyone else sucks or when I'm incredibly excited. XD When there's decent translators about, I sip tea and enjoy the scenery. XD Millay does not surprise me. Fanboys probably would enjoy it, too. Diary entry works. But wow, an entry once a month? Lulu---or whoever writes the diary---is one heck of a lazy writer. XD

See. And my computer sucks, so there's this whole LAGGGGGG OF DOOOOMMM whenever I re-lineart or color. It sucks. *sigh*

I am. XD But really, if there's someone else who can do the job just as well as you can and do it in the same time, there's no point wasting resources and alienate the other guy in the process. Translating leaves too little time and mood for generating other things. XD Japanese are VERY WEIRD. But then again, I haven't seen how scary it is. It can't be worse than guro, at the least. So it's an OC. Well, that's not exactly unexpected, but I was hoping for a canon viewpoint. You live with what you get, I guess.

Yes, it is in there (I think I left the Haruhi booklet on the train or something...:D). Scanning it for you now and I'll post it in a seperate post and then if you don't want to read it offline but would rather own it first, you don't have to click the cut! :)
