Because Code Geass just surprised everyone, producers included, by being popular? CLAMP + Sunrise just seemed like a horrible deal at the start to many people, I guess...and then it suddenly works. So now people are picking it up.

Ahhhh! now I have a decision
- shinsen have good quality translations in general
- like to see alt translations of songs etc
but
- i already have gg, no prob with .mkv format.
- same format as all the other files

will torrent both and see which is faster XD
