I saw that one a couple weeks ago; funny thing is, from top-down, it looks pretty normal.

These mousepads are actually pretty common. Other anime have them too.

It's easier to tell from a top down view that it's a mousepad.

But, uh, the 'bumps' are like the wrist rests you get on normal mousepads...
