Re: wall o' text (1/2)

I think it's a little slanted too heavily to one side, given we haven't seen enough to make that strong of claims.

Oh yeah, definitely. I'm just spewing out what my fan-theory mind is projecting based on our very limited info. I used "demand" because it wasn't something that I think boku!Suzaku would have ever thought to do. Boku!Suzaku was all about doing his part and letting himself get carried away on events. This new ore!Suzaku is all about going forth and taking charge. I guess I overstepped my vocab a little bit, sorry.

I went back and watched that scene again, and I still fee that there is some coldness in the way he says things, particularly the "That's right." It sounds too calm. A detached person, I feel, would at least react a tiny bit at the entire idea of betraying a friend for a promotion. However, there is absolutely no reaction as he continues to stare forward unflinchingly. To me, it seems like he is very consciously aware that this is Lelouch he's doing this to, and as such, he can't simply just be indifferent or detached. In any case, we're arguing over subtle differences in tone of voice here, so who knows?

He is thinking now, but I really don't think that viciousness has lessened any. The quiet, latent anger can smolder as long as a blaze, and I think that such rage is actively coloring how he thinks about things. I guess we fundamentally differ in how much he's learned to "scheme". Suzaku has never struck me as a particularly rational character, even if he were wholly sane, and I suspect that he's as reactionary and emotive now as much as ever. There seems to be little subtlety in his ways of thinking; he doesn't adjust his plans according to new circumstances. (<--assessments made off of the paltry data we have on Suzaku when he was of decently sound mind, aka when he was a kid) To me, he grasps onto an idea/ideal and runs with it headlong until he can no longer. But since we haven't actually seen him really thinking yet this season, who knows? More fan-theory crap by yours truly.
