No Pizza Hut!? WHY?!

I thought I would share with the community the answer I received from Bandai. Since some people were wondering as well.

QUESTION:
I've been a really big fan of code geass since it aired in Japan. I just
recently watched the dub on the adult swim website, and no I haven't
e-mailed you to complain about it. I noticed that all the pizza hut ads
were censored out. Will it be like that on the dvds as well or will it
have the original imagery?

Thank you for taking you time in reading this, hope you hear from you
soon.

ANSWER:
Dear Kim,
Unfortunately, the Japanese rights holders did not clear the Pizza Hut logo for outside Japan, however we did try to get permission and Pizza Hut declined to give us permission.
So, unfortunately, we were unable to provide the Pizza Hut logo for broadcast and DVD releases.
Regards,

It's not America. Pizza Hut said no. If they use their stuff, they could suffer copyright infringement. Bandai tried their best, and they have been very good with the dub. I do not want to see fans berating them for something so silly.

*sigh*

I appologise if it appears I was bashing Bandai. that truly wasn't my objective/opinion. That is why I stated it wasn't cool of "Bandai/Pizzahut" for the editing, I understand that there is nothing more Bandai can do about it, I was just venting my opinion on how un-cool it was.
and it does have to do with America. Obviously they don't have issues with showing Pizza-Hut in the Japanese versions, nor in other countries though I can't say that for sure. So it really is a thing that was the "American Pizza-Hut's" decision. for whatever reasons they chose to keep it out of American versions therefor it has everything to do with America or the American audience/viewpoint if you will.
Personally I only watched the first episode to see how the voice acting/dubb was and although a couple things they did really drive me crazy... I wasn't in the opinion of them doing a bad job. The companies keep getting better about editings and dialoge and such, but like in all things they do still have a way to go.

Sorry as well if I came off rough. I think it was me judging you from your icon since I know a bunch of people who used to use ones like that. I even know the original creator. And yes, you are right it is American Pizza Hut that is against the sponsorship. I guess it has something to do with the environment here. I understand the frustration at not having the pure versions. I just think it's a jump to fear them editing out other stuff just because they have to honor a copyright. That's what rubbed me the wrong way.
