Hmm, personally I think we don't really know enough about Gino to say if he'd be the better or more mature choise. He might be, he definitely seems like healthier way to go than Lelouch even if Lelouch is sexier. I mean, Lelouch is obviously kind of a bad choise, but the beauty of CLAMP gay boys is their horribly angsty relationship. Anyway, if Suzu tried picking Gino, Lulu would have to beat up the competition. Or, more accurately, order his minions to defeat the competition. Kallen would be all like "For the sake of Japan~! >O" and Lelouch would be "*cough* >_>;; ... um, yes. For Japan. Really."
Just because he is a little sociopath doesn't mean Rolo won't have tragic sad end~! Personally I think he might try killing Nunnally or he might die in helping Lelouch to save Nunnally in the very end. Even both are kinda possible. But his tragic love and longing for Lelouch is definitely strong enough to make me sure he will have sad sad death.
