Somthing I bought

I went to Little Tokyo in LA today.
Guess what I bought.

What do you guys think of it?
I think it looks awesome.

and I just won some Suzaku x Euphie doujinshi on Y!Japan yesterday. Oh and OMG I didn't make a post about it to the geass comm!!1

This is more of a thing for you to post at your personal journal. If everyone posted about when they got code geass merchandise this community would get spammed way more than it already has. I do not think the members would like that too much. I for one wouldn't.

No offense. :|

I will try to scan it when I get it in the mail if you want xD

I never say no to doujinshi scans ♥

Respectfully fifth-ing, presuming it's possible to respectfully over-kill something.

If you're sharing something with the community, like scans, or information about new products, that's usually looked on as awesome. But this just amounts to a cool story, not something that a large number of members of the community will find value in.

i guess ur right about the spamming but we're lucky it hasnt happened yet... thing is i dont feel that it's anything bad for magicoreo-san to share what he's got with us... it's... nice i guess =/

[identity profile] ex-defaced.livejournal.com 2008-08-24 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
lol okay then
The illustration is nice but I don't really see the need for this post to be made to the code geass community. It looks exactly like something that would be posted to a personal journal.

If someone shares what they get, others will too. Then it will just lead to spam which we DO NOT WANT.

I think the main issue here, at least from my point of view, is what the community gets out of it.

From humour posts, the comm gets lulz. From scans, the comm gets attractive goodies. Posts about spoilers, info, etc, they inform the comm.

This post provides only a low resolution, poor quality version of an image we've already seen before. The truth is... the comm gets nothing out of this except to meet the OP and to know about something that happened in his day that affects none of us, and provides none of us with anything. Sure, it's selfish, but that's the difference between a community and a personal journal - if we want to know what happened in someone's day, that's for a personal journal. Comms are about shared interests and mutual benefits.

I had no intentions of making you feel bad with that comment, and I'm not a mod here; I'm just trying to give my perspective on the matter.

[identity profile] saorren.livejournal.com 2008-08-24 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
ya i understand ur point, it's all very reasonable.. but what i meant to say is... *sigh* pointing out that this post is not needed in the comm by so many ppl is just a little bit mean to the person who just intended to share what they've got. sigh. but ya ur right it's gonna be spam if everyone takes a pic of their newly-bought lulu keychains or posters or whatever... but still i'd prefer to be nicer... >.> owells, personal preference =/

I'm sorry if it seems mean to you; I had hoped I had phrased it politely.

As I said, I'm not the moderator here, though the mod's recent post seems to run along similar lines to what we're saying here. Personally, I don't see how it's especially mean to point out that were irrelevant posts a constant stream they would get in the way of community discussion, but as you said, I suppose it's just an issue of personal preference.
