Plot summary for 21

Did anyone notice that it's been changed/updated?

"Within the Sword of Akasha, the Emperor reveals the true reason for banishing Lelouch, and his intention to create a gentle world without lies. Lelouch almost reconciles with the Emperor, but changes his mind when he realizes that the world the Emperor desires has no future."

zOMG. Lelouch - real final boss?! I kinda hope.

By the way, I culled that from the Geass episodes wiki page. I think it's fairly trustworthy because there's at least two people who seem to be constantly monitoring the page and reverting speculative edits etcetera, and this edit wasn't reverted. If anyone can find a better source, though, by all means..

So... The emperor is actually a GOOD guy?? Another twist... I'm betting the final boss on Anya/Marianne...

*continues being brain dead*

[identity profile] wina8a.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 08:26 am (UTC)(link)
Angst Lelouch is going to remain angst...

Lulu: WTH?? So now that emperor's innocent?? And you said we're useless to you?? Why don't you tell us the truth then?? You BIG FAT LIAR!!

How dramatic...

Can anyone like define a "gentle world without lies" ?

It's just that I'm having a really hard trying to imagine.
If it's just as complicated for you as in me, than just a "world without lies" would suffice.

[identity profile] kamina.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 10:17 am (UTC)(link)
Gurren Lagann end?

[identity profile] jczala.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 11:07 am (UTC)(link)
WTF? Emperor, good? I find it hard to believe. Man, this is getting more twisted than ever. We can't really tell what would happen next in Code Geass.

[identity profile] nokiirat.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 11:30 am (UTC)(link)
tagged. please do the same in the future.

[identity profile] fluffyfledgling.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 11:41 am (UTC)(link)
I wonder if that can really be taken at face value. "A gentle world without lies" -- that sounds just like something Charles' would say to try and mess you up.

But I'm more curious about the Emperor's excuse for banishing Lelouch. It must be REALLY GOOD, for Lelouch to consider reconciliation. Maybe around this time Marianna-as-Anya has already shown up? That or Lelouch has grown and humbled so much he's willing to accept anything.

[identity profile] klingon-jedi.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 11:52 am (UTC)(link)
Not really a twist, since they've sort of been implying such since the whole VV bit. Charles is a bit of a sympathetic villain, the same as how Lelouch is the anti-hero.

[identity profile] powercorrupts.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh Charles.

I'm really hoping for this to be for real. A vindicated Charles would be amazing.

[identity profile] sevoth.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 01:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I would assume a world where there is no conflict. I'm personally imagining it as a brainwashed, 1984 type of thing. Which I guess would be the reason why Lelouch would be against the idea.

[identity profile] sevoth.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 01:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I want Charles to be a good guy too. It just seems so not fair for him to be the only character who's "evil" when the series has stressed the idea of a moral gray area so much. Besides, I like to think that Charles started out the same way as Lelouch, but ended up becoming too disillusioned with the world and sort of going batshit insane.

[identity profile] tomoyohime8.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 01:53 pm (UTC)(link)
good guy if we disregard the whole destroy the world thing. XDDDDDDDDD

[identity profile] tarkara.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
i still read this as "charles = bad"

[identity profile] cr-balmung.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait until Leouch finds out that his mom's alive. xD

I wanna see his face go WTF.

[identity profile] rainbow-cnxn.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Eva end. Everyone gets turned into Tang.

[identity profile] eriol33.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
cheap plot twist, unpredictable but nothing surprising. I find geass plot getting dull since I read r2 supposed to have different story. This one reminds me to Clamp's style converting the bad guys into some innocent villain which have good intention but covered with lies and mask all the time.

I dont know why they made this type of plot, either this is planned on the first place, or they couldnt make up in the time to create emperor's real objective. I hope this plot is not result of some deadline. =(

for some reason I feel losing my faith and excitement toward r2. I wish it is only temporary =(

[identity profile] tanaiel.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah... But he can't be totally good either! He laughed when Euphie killed the Japanese.
I'm going with grey, really.

[identity profile] five-sunsets.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Big Brother anyone? o_O;

[identity profile] aquaelion.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm thinking that the "creating a gentle world without lies" part would be the desires of Charles' insane mind... Translating that into Kill all humans = gentle, lie free world. ;D

I think reading into it any other way, such as making him look like a good guy..would be silly, I doubt there'd be that kind of plot twist so close to the end. And in reality, it'd make for a pretty poor ending for Lelouch to be the "bad guy."

I'd hope the animators/directors/etc wouldn't go and do a silly thing like that.

But I could be wrong. :V

[identity profile] chickee1.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I just refuse to believe this. Gives away too much to be a TV guide synopsis and it's not one from the main anime magazines, because I checked.

[identity profile] treeflamingo.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the whole 'dude, your mom is evil!!!111' thing would push him completely over the edge.

You think? I almost think he might accept it. Y'know, be all "My mother engineered everything. That's... yes. My mom is the shit. I will now fulfill my role as king of ALL because clearly, that's what Mom was going for." I think it might make him awesomer. (And by awesomer, yes, I do mean orders of magnitude more evil.)

[identity profile] fujiappletan.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
oh hell yes.

[identity profile] treeflamingo.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think I'd call it a "cheap plot twist" as much as an honesty about the characters. It's pretty rare that you get somebody that ambitious and that successfully ambitious who's working from a completely black heart. Everybody's got an angle that makes them the good guy. Even Hitler thought he was saving Germany.

However, I, too feel that my excitement is waning, and I can't quite figure out why. Although... depths-of-despair!Lulu (who maybejustmaybeohpleaseanimegodsletitbeso isn't actually over the edge angsty, just totally desperate) is kinda getting be interested again...

[identity profile] treeflamingo.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
It would make perfect sense for Charles to be plumbing the depths of evil in search of a truly perfect world, because that's basically what Lelouch has done. And anybody who can't see the fantasmic resemblance between Lelouch and his father needs to be slapped with a wet herring. (Kindly, though - I mean, i don't want to hurt you or anything, but, seriously... you should see these things!)

[identity profile] treeflamingo.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Appropriate icon much? Much.

Also, this is now the ending I am hoping for. More shows need to end in apocalypse.

[identity profile] saverellawish.livejournal.com 2008-08-27 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
GOOD LORD, I HOPE NOT D:

[identity profile] saverellawish.livejournal.com 2008-08-27 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, I would be ok with this for some reason XD;;

[identity profile] saverellawish.livejournal.com 2008-08-27 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
No way in freaking hell >_> Charles is bad to the bone...

Oh what the hell am I talking about!? Everything's up in the air anyway, who really cares until its actually the end? *sulks in her corner*

[identity profile] chickee1.livejournal.com 2008-08-27 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
I'll agree with you on the similarities. Their names also have almost the same lettering

シャルルSharuru
ルルシュRurushu

Everyone probably already knows that, but I dunno if it comes up seeing as in English it's 'Charles'

I just figured it was because Charles had plans for Lulu so he named him after himself. Maybe it was Marianne who had the plans?

[identity profile] clones.livejournal.com 2008-08-27 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
Charles is described as having lost connection with the real world. He sees wars and other issues as petty matters. It's not hard to imagine Lelouch following the same path; in a way, he already has.

Lelouch never gave a crap whether Japan was liberated or not; he didn't care how many people died. He just wanted to take down Daddy & destroy Britannia - Charles just wants to create a new world with no lies.

When Euphemia killed all of those Japanese, Lelouch only cried because he had to kill his sister. Not because of the countless Japanese lives lost. I think, if you were to give Lelouch a little more time, that he would have laughed too.

Really, it's the same thing. To me, at least. =D

[identity profile] clones.livejournal.com 2008-08-27 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think Lelouch would be 'The Bad Guy' if Charles turned out to be semi-OKAY. Because not matter what Charles intentions are, whether they are good or bad, he's hurt too many people to get there.

The same goes for Lelouch - we're just able to redeem him better because we've seen more of his story. Imagine if this show was about Charles, and suddenly some brat tried to ruin his awesome, nice plans.

[identity profile] clones.livejournal.com 2008-08-27 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think Lelouch would be 'The Bad Guy' if Charles turned out semi-OKAY.

Actually, it still wouldn't matter if Charles had what he thought were Good Intentions, because he's hurt too many people to get where he is. So we'd see it as perfectly fine for Lelouch to stop this man.

But, the same goes for Lelouch. He's hurt countless just because he wants his old life back. And now just because he's lost everything. When he kills Charles, we'll be able to easily justify it because we've seen his entire story - he's redeemable in our eyes because we know him.

Imagine if Code Geass was about Charles, and then suddenly some brat comes along and tried to ruin is plans of a 'great, happy world with no lies.'

[identity profile] loser-withclaws.livejournal.com 2008-08-27 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe it was Marianne who had the plans?

That would be AWESOME.
"Hey CC, my husband's trying to kill all of humanity, so when the time comes, give my kid Geass and help him take over the world. K?"

[identity profile] cloudcataurelia.livejournal.com 2008-09-01 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Well i guess the new ep settles this eh?
