Okay what I said before about the regular Illustration Compilation before and reminding me of TTGL's Nia and Yoko artbooks? Scratch that.

Not so hot on this so far-- I think even the cover's looking a little off, but I'm hoping we get some of the other less focused-on females like Cecile, Rakshata, and Tianzi!

Actually I'm more hoping for a "Hero's Tribute" later on ;___;

Well we learnt to deal with fanservice in CG, and since there aren't enough arts of my fav girls, ...I'll not complain.

I used to quite like Kallen in the first season, but come R2; the large quantity of her being used as a fanservice assessory is what made me think "nope."
I'd say I will like her again when I finally get around to watching the blu-rays of season 1 I've been downloading.

Bah, actually her fanservice moments were Kallen x Lelouch moments, meaning, not a problem for me.
Now for the ass shots and Boobs shots, If I had to dislike a girl for those reasons, I would have an hard time to appreciate most of the girl cast.
Between C.C.'s ass + her spending most of her time sitting hugging Cheese kun and eating pizza, and Shirley's fanservice...I don't think Kallen is this much above those (even though in R2, since she took the cake when it comes to screentime, it helps. But S1 exists as well.)

I admit that she's cute, but I hate her personality. Plus I'm a girl, I'm not interested in other women's chests. I still think she's just a worthless fanservice character with no brains at all. And she possibly needs to be on medication and get a good psychiatrist.

In that book I'd rather see CC, Anya, Cecile, etc.

Hmm the end of the show disagrees with you when it comes to her lack of brain.
And well as another girl, her chets doesn't interest me at all as well.

Now if Kallen is a worthless fanservice character, I can't help but think that's pretty much the case of all the girls in geass. (Anya ? Does she have any other purpose that to be an emotionless loli ? And pizza butt who used to eat pizza and hugged her plushe during 80 % of R2 ? And so on ? All the girls are fanservice chara, but the main aren't only that.)
(And a good part of geass boys are as well BTW)

I think C.C. and Euphie had their uses far beyond fanservice. Without C.C., there wouldn't have been a story. She and Lelouch are the main characters and Suzaku and Nunnally are the most important supporting characters in terms of what they do to the plot.

But... Kallen? Anya? Viletta? They are pretty much useless beyond fan service. Shirley I'm torn about - on the one hand I think she was important because she confronted Lelouch with the reality of what he was doing and brought conflict to him, but on the other hand a lot of her scenes were rather useless, too.

Agreed, though, a lot of the guys are, too - like Gino, who I can't help but think was only put in there for some yaoi bait with Suzaku (I do like Gino, though, I do). Rolo I'm unsure about - I'm tempted to say that he was rather useless in the grand scheme of things, too.

Of course all of this doesn't mean you can't like a character regardless.

...Kallen doesn't have any use beyond fanservice ? Well she basically saved Lelouch's ass numerous time and is kinda the Ace pilot in a mecha serie which is NOT nothing.

Now if we wanna be fair, We could wonder what exactly did C.C. in R2 apart in Turn 1 and 15 apart from eating pizza and hugging cheese kun. Yes C.C. gave him geass. And so ? Apart from that you could have kill her after that, little would have changed.

Lelouch is the main character. C.C., in R2 especially with her shitty screentime, is far from that; Even Suzaku is more supporting to the plot that anything, CG is all about Lelouch.

Now is that a problem ? Actually not at all, at least for me, since I like C.C., and I like Anya and Gino (most useless characters in the show), but I don't get where people get this idea that Kallen is only there for fanservice. If thay are going to take this road, then it would be smarter to take a look to others girls as well.

Like I said, without C.C. there wouldn't have been a story. Her doing nothing in R2 doesn't change that, she's integral to the story. Kallen isn't nearly up to that level and gets entirely too much screen time for being, essentially, only Lelouch's ace pawn.

Yup and I said that without Kallen, Lelouch would be dead, or a junkie, and without Lelouch = No story.
Only the point of view differs, and well, CG was basically the story of a boy leading a rebellion against his father, the geass factor was added later.

And it's more like lelouch's Ace Q1. She was his pawn in S1, in R2 it's like...totally different ?
And it's not like her screentime was only about her fights :)

...that's unfair to say about Kallen. This may be me over-analysing things...but I think Kallen's 'Suzaku's possibility'. The two are matched in terms of prowess in handling KMF and 'closeness' to Lelouch (aka his friends, holds a place in his heart - Lelouch does care for Kallen to a degree because when she fell to the Britannia and Chinese Federation he attempted to get her back) but Kallen chooses to support and protect Lelouch while Suzaku opposes Lelouch almost till the end. I beg to differ. CG's about opposing principles as well. That's why Suzaku sticks to his views till his insanity degrades..till he loses so much he tries to convince himself 'the means didn't matter' i.e. scoff at everything he used to believe in in R1. I'd like to think that Kallen's...what Suzaku could be if he chooses to be in Lelouch's side since the beginning... (provided Suzaku didn't have as much 'baggage' too). CG's not only about Lelouch and his rebellion...it also centres about the opposing principles thing (it's explained in the dvd1 booklet, I think) and the geass. I personally love that scene where Suzaku nearly forced Refrain into her.

C.C.'s...Lelouch's emotional support. She was the only one who could understand the burden of having the geass in R1...and the emotional detachment she insisted upon ('we're accomplices' thingy) and her 'invincibility' made Lelouch relieved. He could care for her and also rely on her/didn't need to worry about her so much (Lelouch also feels that way about Kallen). That's why Lelouch felt...out of the loop when C.C. sealed her memories. After that, Lelouch was truly alone...no one knew the full set of events, the reasons why he did things (like Euphie-massacre-princess incidence). C.C. also 'betrayed' Lelouch when she told him that she knew Charles and was actually scheming things with the Emperor.

The girl character I hate most is Shirley, actually...because she's 'weak', the kind of blushing, indecisive female type I don't like, and her resolves to help Lelouch actually didn't help things, but like one comment stated above Shirley is pivotal, represents the consequences of Lelouch's actions and she has her troubles too before she was able to come to terms with the decision to support Lelouch...and by being an ignorant friend her presence helped Lelouch too, somehow, so...*shrug* I won't say I wasn't relieved when she died, but she's important.

Gino...represents a sheltered noble...who was born with the proverbial silver spoon in the mouth...didn't have to fight for position like the Britannian Royal Family had to. Like Milly. But Milly has her own problems...like that engagement with Lloyd. But Gino was really ignorant, I think, and wants to prove himself, too. His role in accordance to Lelouch rebellion...I'm not very sure, but I find him interesting as well.

The only reason I liked and kept liking Kallen, after being strapped to a chair for the later half of R2, is because she's half-breed like me, hey Japanese/Native American is PRACTICALLY Japanese/Britannian ... pseudo-geographically speaking, and I have that whole racial identity problem that Kallen was always bombarded with.

I do find it funny when people complain about fanservice in certain shows but actually turn around and celebrate it in others. Or complain about certain kinds of fanservice but not about others.
