Yeah. They actually have a note in the OP (my download just finished) that "we'll stop subbing when gg has the speed people desire," which I'd say is a bit out of line, but I love me some speed subbers and got spoiled by SEED Destiny subbers who put out the next day.

Yeah, there are a few blips (like... no subtitles for three lines and then four at once XD) but in the end I have to go "Well, it's sure as hell better than I could do! Man, I love these people and their subs." Also, the TL notes make me laugh.

Download Media Player Classic (http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Video/Video-Players/Media-Player-Classic-for-Win2kXP.shtml). I use it as my default media player and didn't even know people had problems with gg's fansubs until I wandered into the LJ comm. If you use it with the .mkv codex, you won't have to call the nice fansubbers names. :P

Oh I watch it with Zoom Player no problem, its just some of my friends throw pissy fits about Media Player not working well on MAC or something like that... I am actually happy I got CCCP from gg because it fixed bunch of other plaback problems on my computer.

Interesting, a new group? Are they better than gg at translations and such? I'll probably stick to gg just cause I've been using them, but I'm just curious about this new group. I love the name, it's my trademark phrase! Your mom... lol

I don't know Japanese, so I can't say if they're better or worse, but if you're curious about what the characters are saying, I'd recommend them and stuff? They have really fast direct downloads, so it can't hurt.

They were around for a while (did the last two episodes of Mai-Otome, then did School Rumble among other shows), then they died, but apparently they're back. Or someone else has made a group with the same name, knowingly or unkowingly.

As far as the actual quality... it's a little sloppy, just like most of their work. I'll probably replace it with the GG version when it comes out.

But if you don't know moonspeak it beats watching the raw or spoiling yourself with a summary (which is what I've been doing for the past few eps.)

They had a ~24hour turnaround with School Rumble, so expect ep. 20 this Friday, I'd say.

You know, having done a little bit of temp QC work on a Soukyuu no Fafner sub group a few years ago, I think it's worth noting that translation may not even be the toughest part of a sub job. On top of translation, you have to time dialogue to a 1/100th of a second, typeset and manage that crazy karaoke, QC, encode stuff in there somewhere... heck, I know I'm forgetting something. And unless it's changed dramatically since two years ago, the software used to do that is a serious pain. The translator's job is only part of what it takes to get a sub out, and if any component of a subbing team is bogged down (and it is midterm season for a bunch of college kids), the whole group can get bogged down.



I realize I'm verging on tl;dr, but I think that's important stuff to bear in mind. *shrug*

i'll agree to your small comment. i translate/used to translate/will translate when i learn something called time management the code geass manga from chinese to english. and it is seriously hard to get the exact meanings across from one language to another. and i mean it.

i do know what you mean. i have friends who've tried to teach me some chinese, and man is it hard. and spanish, hands down, is much easier. totally agree.

and very true about the other stuff. i know i could never do what they do. i'm just impatient, since i see other sub groups (which, admittedly, are probably bigger) that are much faster. and i dont ever think of midterms since mid-semester is still a couple of weeks away for me, and next year in college i'll be on a 4-1-4 schedule so those are different too. XD but its totally true, and i was a bit...not rude, but probably superficial a bit in the last comment. :/

Seriously, YM rocks. (Yeah, your mom rocks. Can't get over that. XD) I don't mind the teasing side notes they make either - hell, if I had to sub so fast, I'd want to get a kick out of it myself.
