Episode 20 Discussion

I have been remiss in my self-set duties of trying to keep up on episode discussions. I got distracted by all the spoilers and was less interested in the now. I shall remedy that tonight.

Note: This rundown is slightly more fan-ish than recent ones because I had more time to let it sink in.

I agree with many people that 20 did not have enough Lelouch. I adore Euphemia, and Suzaku in fighting mode is always a thing of beauty, but I do need a good chunk of Lelouch because them alone is not quite as gripping. I guess having the scenes with him in the Gawain made up for it almost. I think I about died when I realized Lelouch was hardly doing *anything* the whole time and that C.C. was doing all the work. I think Lulu pushed the button for the lasers. Didn't one of the magazines say something about how although Gawain is a two-pilot Knightmare, it doesn't really need the second pilot? Wait to go, Lulu. That pimp shot of him stealing the thunder for all of C.C.'s skills is the stuff cracky dreams are made out of. Also, Gawain could probably *eat* Lancelot. No wonder it needs C.C. to pilot it. The thing's ginormous. I did think Suzaku was a little too eager to work with Zero, considering he saw him threatening Euphemia with a gun in the episode before. I would chalk it up to some effect of his Geass, but it seemed that Gawain's arrival interrupted his dip into Geass mode. Let's not go into how Gawain and Lancelot are totally the greatest OTP evar!

Then when have Suzaku and Euphemia. First, I want to say it's too bad the timeslot forces the episode to move faster because I would have definitely liked to see Suzaku trying to defend himself at his court marshal, after the Geass incident. Why did Schneizel let him off so easy? I predict foul play at work. Also, the "I give back my knighthood and then reclaim it 20 minutes later" makes the action fairly pointless. I mean, was he even a non-knight for more than a day? The only benefit from that randomness is it led to some somber introspection from Euphemia. I enjoyed her struggle between wanting to avenge Clovis while wanting to save Lelouch and Nunnally. I also thought she was going to implode with brotherly love when she saw Lelouch and Suzaku working together. Euphemia is so cute. Even if she is almost as much of a dork as her brother. Seriously, woman, you do not confess your love while your boyfriend is in the heat of battle. I love how Suzaku was all "Uh... kind of busy here..." and then ends up agreeing to Euphemia's "order" to love him because he's in battle mode. Oh the dialogue. Again, I love Euphie, but that dialogue. Ow ow ow. And the worst part was the entire time Suzaku is letting her go on and on and then trying to reassure her, he knows he's a dead man. It's like "Aww, you're sweet. Oh did I mention I ran out of power and am gonna die now? Sorry about that. ;_;" Suzaku, you ass. The ending scene did improve on the dialogue though, as Suzaku's happy smile and "Yes, your highness" sent giddy chills up my spine.

Also love for the competition between Laksharta and Pudding Earl.

I would comment on the Nina/Euphie scene, but all I have to say is that I think Nina thought she was getting through to Euphemia about her crush at the end there. She is going to throttle Suzaku at the pizza party. ^_~

As usual, bring up your own topics on the episode and go wild.

Best post ever.
Yes, that episode was ALL kinds of love.
I think I peed myself when C.C. and Lulu showed up in Gawain.

"Pudding Earl" I love you for this!!!!!!!!!

Nina/Euphie was kinda ew...I'll never look at Nina the same, after the table-humping episode. Poor Euphie...
I loved how everyone was awesome/dorky in this episode. My squee level was OVER 9000!!!!!

I expected Nina to be more "creepy stalker"-ey than she was when talking to Euphie, IMO.

I wanted Nina to be Euphie's first kiss. :(

Okay, yeah. Wild Suzaku/Euphie lover that I am (and I have yet to come up with a horrendous ship name yet. Suzuphie? Euzaku just sounds like Lancelot screwed a ZAKU. Perhaps I'm doomed to type out all thirteen letters of "Suzaku/Euphie"), I loved this episode. I thought the confession was adoribly dorky. It reminded me, in a way, of Lelouch's "Suzaku was the first friend I ever had" -- well, he's also, presumably, the first person Euphie's fallen in love with, so I can excuse her for, uh, how sweetly silly the confession was.

And. Yeah. Them working together. What the fuck? It would have been better without the music. Or if Suzaku occasionally tried to shoot Gawain. Like, Gawain drifts down, Suzaku tries to shoot it and has no power.

Suzaku: Are you here to fuck shit up, too, Zero?
Lelouch: No. And you're out of power. Shut up and take my big package like a man.
Suzaku: ... well, okay, as long as I tried and you're not going to pull anything on Britannia.

[identity profile] hylarn.livejournal.com 2007-03-13 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
You know, so far all of Scheizels plans seem to involve Suzaku dying. Then Lulu saves him.

[identity profile] tatooine.livejournal.com 2007-03-13 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Schneizel is a BL fan. It was easy for him to get Euphie a private line because he'd been spying on Suzaku the whole time, waaaaaiting for Gawain to show up and propose to Lancelot.

Really, I just don't get it. How can Suzaku fight and at the same time hearing Euphie order him to love her? If I were Suzaku, I just stop. Lol~~!

And Suzuphie is a nice name.

[identity profile] zalem.livejournal.com 2007-03-13 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
While this episode was nowhere near as good as 17-19, it was immensely amusing. There were flaws of course. The love confession was a bit weird. I mean, it wasn't anything out of the blue like say....Shinn and Lunamaria from GSD (now that was out of the blue AND at a very awkward point in the series), but it did seem like an odd moment. That Euphie has been clearly crushing on Suzaku is pretty clear. I'm not quite so sure of Suzaku's feelings for her. He seems fond of her, but I don't see him looking at her in a romantic way. At least, not yet.

Love the competition between Laksharta and Pudding Earl...just way too amusing. I hope we see more. Laksharta has attitude, I like her! :) Hope she gets more screentime too.

The OTP mecha love was the fun point. A bit cheesy, but fun. Also agree that I think Suzaku should have been alot more hesitant to accept Zero's help. So that is a definite flaw. Unless, like you mention, you chalk it up to the geass "live" command.

Oh man, when Gawain showed up a nearly shat myself. I mean I'm no expert on Mecha, but even I can tell that it one sexy piece of work. I'm happy they didn't give it to the stripper Kallen.

And, must I say, some of Pudding Earl's expressions in this episode... yay, I sure as hell better see some nice icons of those. :o

I love how Suzaku was all "Uh... kind of busy here..." and then ends up agreeing to Euphemia's "order" to love him because he's in battle mode.
XD I had to pause there and laugh myself to death at that. XD

And then a couple of seconds later, I was yelling "Suzaku, you ass! If you die, I'm going to kill you!"

...>_>; Yeah, I don't know why I talk to shows like that. XD

[identity profile] ryans-cupcake.livejournal.com 2007-03-13 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
I loved this ep.
Gawain proposing to Lancelot was the best part though.
Woo~ always good to see Suzauphie... (that sounds reeeeeeeealy strange...)

[identity profile] defade.livejournal.com 2007-03-13 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
I was like, "Ahh....-_-" when I saw that Lulu's hands were resting comfortably on the pilot seat. I was hoping for some electronics action(which is why there's two pilots in the first place - the electronics of Gawain is complicated like woah, so when Lulu focuses on it, it's safer for someone else to pilot it so you don't get your ass whacked). But I guess there's no need, with Lancelot cooperating, beating up Kyushuu is like pudding...STILL.

AND I AGREE. THERE'S NOT ENOUGH LELOUCH IN THIS EPISODE. I think Suzaku actually had more screentime than him. Not that I mind, I really do like Suzaku and Euphemia in this episode. And I was cheering for Lancelot. But they just don't match up.;_;

I wonder, if there'll be any future chance that Gawain and Lancelot will work together. I'd love to see this ideal combo once more.

much love for the Laksharta and llyod rivalry!! X3

though ep 20 is one of those eps tht it feels like the animators are just dumping all the plot points they can think of into 1 ep D: the confession was cute tho seriously out of place. ~___~

Yeahhhhh~!!!! Nina crush him

The lack of Lelouch makes me sad. D:

Of course, there are other good things that made up for it, such as the SuzaEuphie goodness, the Lloyd and Laksharta rivalry, Gawain, C.C. in her pilot suit, Lelouch sitting in his cockpit being a lazy smartass while C.C. does the work, and Nina's meeting with Euphemia.

But sheesh... that love confession. Euphie, I love you, but damn... that was retarded! Suzaku, you lamer. x3 BOTH OF YOU ARE SO DAMN CORNY. That scene was so bad and poorly-timed, it's funny. So bad, it's good. So bad, I laughed my ass off. Euphie might as well said that she'd love to run her fingers through Suzaku's hot muscular body. =p I'd totally love to see that, though. xD

Sorry, I'm retarded, silly things like that amuse me.
