Similarities?!

This is my first time posting here.

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that there are a lot of characters that are similar to CLAMP's other works?

• For example, Empress Tianzi. I was watching the CLAMP in Wonderland music video No.2 and I noticed a white haired girl who looked like Tianzi, except older and with a parting in her bangs.
• Li Xingke looks like Yasha-O from RG Veda
• Alicia Lohmeyer looks like someone from another Clamp work that I don't know about, but I have seen it in the music video.
• Nunnally has the same features as a card in Cardcaptor Sakura.
• Someone else who watches the show told me that Suzaku looks like Syoaran.

There could be other characters out there that I don't recognize because I'm only paying attention to the more recent Clamp projects instead of the past ones, besides RG Veda

I think the white haired girl you're thinking on is Chii from Chobits xD

Several drawings of Lelouch by CLAMP makes him look identical to Kamui from X. :P

I thought on Hinoto first, but then I remembered that Chii had the pigtails and Hinoto hasn't xD Well, both of them can be considered, I guess....

It can't be Hinoto since she didn't show up in either of the Clamp in Wonderland music videos. It's not Chi either since she doesn't have a split in her bangs and she's blonde.

It maybe this girl. I don't know her name but she's the only character I saw with white hair and a split in her bangs in the video they mentioned:

Yeah, he really does look like Kamui from X/1999. The same with the sword that he wields. It's very similar to the sword from X.

But then again the character designs were originally done by CLAMP if I'm not wrong?

Suzaku is Syaoran and Sakura's child...from the future or something. :D He does have Sakura's lovely green eyes...♥

Oh well yes it obvious they look like a lot of characters.
Lately CLAMP seems to be re-recycling characters, so Code Geass wouldn't be an "exception" because they don't look exactly like some others, but yeah :P

Clamp's style really leads to similar looks to characters. Not sure if it's actual RECYCLING, tho I admit Lulu looks like a more stylish Kamui. *lol*

Yeah, like winterfox said, there's also the similarities between the character designs in Geass and in Gundam SEED; to be honest my first reaction after seeing some Code Geass screenshots was something along the lines of; "They look suspiciously like Kira and Lacus..." I guess you could also say Lulu is like Athrun and Milly is like Cagali.

Actually, what I heard was that CLAMP originally did very different designs, but the studio wanted more CLAMP-like designs.

Granted, I heard this on 4chan, so I dunno how true it is. The picture does say Code Geass character test designs...i think the left was Lelouche and right was Suzaku? Maybe the other way around...

Can't vouch for the Suzaku concept pics, but those are definitely the Lulu concept pics. I think you can find them in the Mutuality artbook.

Oh yeah... those are the original designs yes. You can actually find those from one of the Newtype issues... initial Lulu designs was ment to be a bit like count dracula... if I remember correctly...

It is all done by the approval of the studio, like Sakura said those designs were the first Suzaku and Lelouch designs. Apperantly they weren't happy and wanted it more bishie
Having someone do a character design doesn't always mean that they are entirely free to design as they like, usually the studio is impressed with their style of drawing and previous designs and they give guidelines to what they want, if the studio doesn't like a first design they will say what they like and then Clamp makes something in response to that
The studio wanted them to probably look more like the other characters
If this anime was a completely clamp production things would've been different

artists have their own styles. the studio wouldn't have picked them to draw in a different style. yun kouga's gundam00 characters initially looked like some of the loveless characters. chika umino's eden characters initially looked like her hachikuro ones. plus, as someone said, clamp loves to revive memories of their older work. :) so yep, we all noticed the similarities' eye-candy--yes.

That was DEFINITELY done on purpose. All of the character designs were done by CLAMP.
