I was out shopping today for manga and I noticed the Newtype magazine selling with Lelouch and Suzaku (looking quite sexy) on the cover and I also noticed the magazine had three key chains/dog tags with Suzaku and Lelouch's face on them.

Do the Newtype magazines that feature Geass normally sell Geass merchandise? Also, I'm looking on the official site and I can't spot the merchandise they had with the magazine there. It's the April 2007 one.

Random question but I never noticed. D':

(And no... I didn't have enough money yet to buy it... D':)

Newtype and other anime magazines usually have freebies. Sometimes it's a book cover, sometimes it's a keychain, heck, they even had Roy Mustang's gloves. It's got nothing to do with the official merchandise as far as I know.

(I have the dogtag things, they're nice, but I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with them. :s )

Aha, thanks for the tidbit. I've never bought an anime magazine but when I saw Lulu and Suzaku I was like, "Y HALLO THAR. YOU MADE IT TO CANADA?!"

well , if you live in Montreal then you should go to "sci-fi anime " , it's a little store located near the metro "villa-maria" ( although he plans on moving next to Concordia this summer ) . There is plenty of good anime merchandise , and you can order ( i think ) Japaneses magazines ..such as megami and Newtype .
He receives Newtype USA on regular basis though..but..this one is not interesting :P

I like him a lot better than Cosmix. They're kind of rude there, save for one Asian worker.

I've also noticed the Shounen Jump USA is not as interesting as the Japanese one.

Anyway , so i went at his place today ( twas my manga shopping day today :P ) and i saw the Newtype magazine ( the last one ._. ) you are talking about and i almost bought it .
Considering it's price ( like..12.95 woot O_o ) i am wondering if it's worth it.
Since you bought it , can you tell me..what it contains that justify the price ? or rather..why should i buy it ( appart from the fact that there is Code Geass on the cover and Suzaku and Lulu key chain :P )

*snark* Geass has been on the cover for the last 6 issues (not including the one issue inbetween with Negima on it).


And uuum, I don't think they sel anymore merchandise than what normal shops do...as in, nothing exclusive. Those wer just giveaways...there's been like...Geass guide book give-aways and such.

Ah I see. ^^ I only own 7 issues, and 6 have Geass on the cover...>_< I never died of teh happy when I got Newtype romance and it wasn't on the cover. XD But it was on the back cover, and had big colour spreads inside. XD

Yup, they usually have frrebies. This month (coverdate June) they had a book which featured repribnts of every Geass article they have run (plus Newtype Romance stuff - yay, because I can't get that in london); next month they promise an exclusive drama CD. ^-^b

Other magazines have Geass freebies too; this month Animage had a deck of cards & Animedia had a similar little souvenir book with some of their aritcles and a look forward to 24/25 (all the magazines do this).

:D I live in London. ;) We get the magazines about a week late (according to the release date and the Japan Centre's delivery arrangements).

Hm, I went to Kinokuniya's at the beginning of the month and they said they wouldn't have May issues in till the second week of May and the girl looked at me like I was stupid and said that they usually get the magazines out in the month that's written on the cover. WTF. D:

Hmm...the magazines usually carry the date of the next month on their cover. Never been sure why. XD It means I'll be buying a January 08 magazine in December 07 for example. ;)
