GAH!

Does anyone know why Shinsen-subs has moved Code Geass to their "On Hold" category? They've just updated that this week. The only reason I could think of for them to do so is that somewhere they heard its in planning to be licensed? (I haven't heard that -- anyone?)

(For that matter, they've suddenly dropped Darker Than Black, which while not related to this comm, also confuses me for the same reason as I haven't heard anything about licensing for that one either.) -- ANSWERED! THX!

Anyone know what's up?

(Hi, I'm Ankhi, btw.)

Darker than Black was announced by Funimation @ AX this year.

[identity profile] nokiirat.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
you could ask them at their forum or irc channel.

While I can't answer for the Code Geass question, the dropping Darker than Black is due to it being licensed. Shinsen has had some trouble with the Funimation before so they're being safe than sorry.

They're probably saying it's on hold because there are going to be no new episodes until the end of this month.

Oh crap, why does DTB have to be liscenced and Code Geass won't D= Damn them! Picking animes that suck and are confusing they always seem to do that... I kinda wanted Code Geass over here so I can tell my friends about it 8D Cause it justkicks so much ass and stuff. And it'd be neat to see a good dubbing company pick it up.

[identity profile] spleener.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
One of the companies at AX said they were saving an announcement for Otakon, I recall. That just might be Geass.

[identity profile] moonloop.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I heard rumors of Ouran being picked up D: No one knows who has them yet but I hope its FUNi. I hope Code Geass gets picked up, at LEAST by a good company then I can afford it. *Crosses fingers*

[identity profile] moonloop.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree, I agree. I want a very good dubbing company to go after Geass (and Ouran and Romeo x Juliet) if thsoe ever get liscenced so waiting longer is a good thing if its going to a good dubbing company. :D

[identity profile] braver.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I think that Code Geass won't be licensed because of the whole "Lelouch is a terrorist" thing. Might still be a touchy subject in America, you know?

But that's just my opinion...

[identity profile] zalem.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh? DtB rocks. I'm actually unhappy about it being picked up this quickly though. It would have been better if they waited until it was over. If they do license Geass it better be after they air 24 and 25.

Not a fan of dubs at all, so I won't say anything about that. The only reason I'd want CG licensed would be so I can have a nice DVD box set. Now that would be awesome. But I hope they wait until CG is over to do it.

[identity profile] gokumew2.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
You'll want to download Syndicate's subs for DTB. *winkwink*

[identity profile] moonloop.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I happen to like dubs actually, because I do speak english and I don't get to download as often as I can (slow connection) so I gotta download one show at a time in long intervals so dubs are good for me to watch, especially if they're done well. IMHO, DTB was confusing and I didn't like it at all. I don't hear too much hype about it anyway. But thast my opinion :) I do agree with you however, that they should wait until 24/25 come out.

[identity profile] zalem.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I was only stating my preference. I really see no need for the attack on my comment. I can only think of only a handful of dubs that I've actually liked and even then, I preferred the subs to them anyway. I happen to like a lot of seiyuu and enjoy hearing their work, so that is a HUGE reason why I will usually prefer subs.

[identity profile] zalem.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
lol. I speak english too, but I like many of the seiyuu in CG so I prefer to hear their voices. But I totally understand about the download speeds. Especially getting stuff off of bittorrent. Can be a real pain...

[identity profile] fujiappletan.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I have the same opinion! ♥

It's just that I like watching things in their original language anyway; you wouldn't see me watching... like a French movie in English ya'know. :D

[identity profile] zalem.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Same goes with me. :) If it's a foreign film I definitely want to hear it in the original language. And CG...well I adore most (if not all) of the seiyuu for CG, so that's one series that I think I'll always prefer the sub for. I mean FukuJun IS Lelouch for me. His voice is too perfect for the role. ^_^

[identity profile] moonloop.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh I love the seiyuu in CG (espeically Lelouch's and CC's!). I wouldn't mind hearing their english though too. I'm very open minded about dubs. ^_^ I don't use Bittorrent. I use DDL but those are hell to download for me >__< I'd rather buy anime at this rate...

[identity profile] moonloop.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree on that. Everyone should be open minded to their own laugnage as well. They ARE trying after all so don't trash them! I adore things in their own languages too but it just gets too hard for me to read the subtitles and watch at the same time which is why I like english. I'm a very slow reader and its hard for me to understand anything. x_x I am open to everything, but I am not a person who prefers only one over the other because its very close minded.

[identity profile] zalem.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I never stated that anything like that. I simply said I was not a fan of dubs. Nothing more, nothing less. Dubs have improved dramatically over the years. There's no question of that. Still, I prefer Japanese seiyuu. If you said you were not fan of subs, I wouldn't even bat an eye. If that's your thing, then fine. To each his own. It's all about one's preference in the end. Alas, this is getting rather OT...

[identity profile] kamuro-ishigami.livejournal.com 2007-07-14 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
Are the syndicate subs that good? Never thought of trying it..

[identity profile] recession.livejournal.com 2007-07-14 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
Bandai.

[identity profile] recession.livejournal.com 2007-07-14 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
Bandai Entertainment to be specific (as Bandai Visual is releasing stateside now too).

[identity profile] gatekeepers-21.livejournal.com 2007-07-14 07:19 am (UTC)(link)
It's probably 75+% sure chance that Bandai is GOING to license Code Geass, because they were hinting on big promotion on another anime like they did to Haruhi.

Bandai handles a lot of Gundam (Code Geass has Mecha... Gundam is Mecha . . .)

Plus, if you follow the ASOS Brigade(English Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu) site they're throwing in a lot of Pizza Hut and Coke ZERO into their videos. And following Kyon's blog, he's hinting it's more than just coincidence.

Don't take my word as fact ):

[identity profile] gokumew2.livejournal.com 2007-07-14 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Syndicate = Shinsen, hence the "*winkwink*" .^^;

[identity profile] kamuro-ishigami.livejournal.com 2007-07-15 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
Oh.. Okay, but since I'm not at all fond of Shinsen's DtB team I still am not going to DL them unless I'm desperate..not that I think that Shinsen as a whole sucks

[identity profile] gokumew2.livejournal.com 2007-07-15 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Their work or the team? .o.o
I think Shinsen's translations are the best for this series but that's just me. (And trust me, I'm VERY picky when it comes to translations.) Plus 175MB HD encodes! .*_________*

[identity profile] kamuro-ishigami.livejournal.com 2007-07-16 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
As Shinsen is a very big team, there are bound to be really good ones and there are also some so-so..but I don't like the team they put up for DtB..

I don't know what your criteria for trans are but some of Shinsen's make my head hurt..or sound a bit off upon comparison to the original context of the Japanese and as I'm quite the reader, I'm more than critical of nuances and such. I'm not saying that they're translating it wrong, just that it could be phrased and worded better..

[identity profile] gokumew2.livejournal.com 2007-07-16 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I see. I think the team is fine, and have I mentioned the 175MB HD encodes!? X.D

I know what you mean; there were parts of some episodes that I would have changed a bit myself. *used to TC, which is why she's so picky* But Shinsen does a generally good job and out of the other groups subbing the series, they're definitely the best imho.

Ah well, to each their own.
