English Premiere - April 25!

Adult Swim has finally updated their site to include Code Geass on their schedule.

May I be the first to say...Hell yes<3

And two weeks before will air the dreaded DN episode =O

On the plus side, more fans. On the down side... more fans. XD I don't have much high hopes for the dub, and I say that as someone who usually likes dubs. But I think it'll be decent. Bandai does a pretty good job with their dubs.

On an unrelated note, I love that song you're listening to. ♥

[identity profile] gatekeepers-21.livejournal.com 2008-03-07 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
I agree... more fans ;___; I'm kinda afraid it may have a giant fanbase like what happened to Bleach and Naruto, but I dono, I'm not very synched with the American population xD

Bandai does do a good job - I enjoyed the Haruhi dub except for the english singing, but Lucky star dub hurts my ears x_x

I think I'll just avoid the TV more than I already do when April rolls around ^^;

And FMA too. I think the FMA fandom more so was completely changed when it aired on Adult Swim.

Same! They did dubbed some of my other favorites too like Ghost in the Shell, Wolf's Rain and Witch Hunter Robin. And all those dubs were great. ^^ And I don't like Lucky Star to being with, so I lucked out? XD/

LOL, ditto. I might still watch it for the lulz.

[identity profile] gatekeepers-21.livejournal.com 2008-03-07 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I usually watch it one for lawlz, but if it's massively bad I could be in fits of crying (like Kanon...)

I hear that. The Black Cat dub did that to me. T_T

Is your username a reference to the anime with the same name by any chance? Out of random curiosity.

[identity profile] gatekeepers-21.livejournal.com 2008-03-07 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
Yes :D A long long time ago I use to really like that anime (when I had very little anime experience) and I was in a username block, so I just choose the title of that anime and it kinda stuck for a while @.@;

Hahaha~ I saw that anime ages ago on... TechTV, I think? I always thought it was pretty cool. Cell phones as weapons, hell yes. XD

[identity profile] gatekeepers-21.livejournal.com 2008-03-07 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah! I watched it on TechTV too ^^. That was my main source of anime back then ;_;

Hahaha, same here~ XD

In some ways, I wonder if Geass will take off the way other anime shows have taken off in past years. It seems almost too socio-political for a broad fanbase to actually ENJOY. But I might just be being elitist, here.

[personal profile] inksmears 2008-03-07 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
Good point. I hope you're right. I guess I just see what it did to the FMA fandom and cringe when I think Code Geass may suffer the same fate. XD

[identity profile] kill-me-faster.livejournal.com 2008-03-07 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
Oh wow, I was in the FMA fandom, too, so I remember what you're talking about. I left a little bit after, though. As a matter of fact...your LJ name looks vaguely familiar. O.o Have we met?
inksmears: ([fullmetal] † long way home)

[personal profile] inksmears 2008-03-07 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
I use to be big into the FMA fandom. Nowadays not to much. It just read the newer chapters as they come out every now and then. So maybe we've met? I dunno, I don't think I recognize your journal name... Then again, I have the memory of a goldfish, so. \o.O/

[identity profile] kill-me-faster.livejournal.com 2008-03-07 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
I used to write under the name [livejournal.com profile] devils_devotion, if that helps.

Well, the fandom got weird after the dub aired, anyway. And I was never one for reading the manga, so I've pretty much forgotten all about it. (Wow, the manga still goes on, even now? That's some perseverance, Hiromu Arakawa.
inksmears: ([cc] † hmmm)

[personal profile] inksmears 2008-03-07 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
It doesn't ring any bells, sorry. D:

Yeah it did. The dub brought in A LOT of fangirls. Specifically Edward and his voice actor fangirls. And yes, the manga is still going~ It's rumored to be ending soon, though. It has... 70-something chapters? Maybe 80-something. I don't remember. XD

[identity profile] forever-remnant.livejournal.com 2008-03-07 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
lolz, one day before my birthday. xD

[identity profile] featherheadfop.livejournal.com 2008-03-07 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
more fans :\... errgh. Maybe want?

I guess I really want more fans of the non-Adult-Swim-watching sort D:.

[identity profile] mossygirl.livejournal.com 2008-03-07 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
Yes! I get to see the premiere of R2 in Japan then go back home and see the premiere of season 1 on American TV XD

I almost hate to say it, but I think CG has the ability to attract a pretty wide fanbase -- it can be political, but it's also about great characters who have appeal for just about anyone (and let's be honest, there's also tons of fanservice). Then again, so far it already has garnered a big fanbase, and things have been pretty good in the fandom as far as I can tell -- it seems like we're a pretty laid-back, fun-loving bunch ^_^ So unless we get a bunch of dumb intro posts that say "lol I luv Ruruchu and Suzie!!!111" or "OMG KALLEN'S B00bs!" ... I think we'll be fine ^^

[identity profile] interstellar.livejournal.com 2008-03-07 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I'm happy :D I hope it'll show in my country sometime (at least so that some official DVDs will be released ^^).

I think more fans will be nice, though. I really doubt that it'll be as insane as FMA fandom got when that dub came out. Sure, it might attract some dumb fans, but I'm sure it'll attract a lot of smart ones, too.

[identity profile] sugar-dustbunny.livejournal.com 2008-03-07 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Ah...I look forward to seeing how the dub is like. From what I've heard though, Terrorist A still sounded the best, but I shouldn't be judging so soon, should I?

I'm also conflicted about the idea of the show having more fans. We'll just have to see, and hope for the best, I guess.

[identity profile] kairoxmyworld.livejournal.com 2008-03-08 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
WOOOOOOOOOOO for terrorist a! xD

[identity profile] jaydesummers.livejournal.com 2008-03-07 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
And now we wait a year for it to come up to Canada and for YTV to butcher it. :|

[identity profile] queen-marshed.livejournal.com 2008-03-07 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
Bleagh.

Dunno about the propect of more fans... I'm certainly not looking forward to all the sue-fic that's onna appear...

[identity profile] recklessflames.livejournal.com 2008-03-07 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
It'll take me a while to not cringe at some of the voices but Ill get used to it. (It was the same with Death Note.) But other than that HELL YEA. Ill be hitting up the NY Comic Con where its suppose to premiere so more Geass on the 18-20th for me. ;] SO HELL YES BRING ON THE GEASS YAOI...opps meant just the Geass. :] haha

normaly I would just ignore an americanized version of code geass. you just can't get any better voices actors then the japanese ones. but for the sake of fandom I will check it out. if they give my poor lulu and suzu crappy voice actors! ( I.E english ichigo and naruto) there will be hell to pay! >,<

Ja ne

Hardcore deranged geass lulu fan girl (I LOVE YOU LULU-KUN!)

>,<

[identity profile] neko-astrid.livejournal.com 2008-03-07 07:55 am (UTC)(link)
omg just read it, just a few minutes after my last comment. WTF who the hell's idea was it to make LuLu into the damn power ranger! >,< its gonna end up like dub bleach all over again *cries*. every time he talks i'm gonna picture crappy giant robot monster fights and flashy repetative transfermations that make you want to kill yourself. for the love of kami the ranger reject sounds like a kid in all the voice overs he does. when the hell did our refined dangerous ex-prince slash terroist sound like a kid?? O,o please don't tell me i'm alone in this *cries*

Re: >,<

[identity profile] veatariel.livejournal.com 2008-03-07 10:52 am (UTC)(link)
to be honest, Lulu is a power ranger wannabe XD He really loves those tokusatsu shows and the 'allies of justice' line proves it. He likes justice prevailing (a.k.a. the power rangers).

So it's sort of ironic the black ranger gets to voice the black prince @__@

Pretty much the only thing I'm looking forward to that's related to the dub release is the merchandise. I hope we get some nice merchandise. <3

I don't have cable, so I won't bother watching it on Adult Swim. But I'm kind-of scared that we'll get a bunch of Geass-tards. :

[identity profile] kairoxmyworld.livejournal.com 2008-03-08 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
omg thats the day after my bdayyyy!
