Quick question...

Does anybody know who is next in line for the Britannian throne since Lelouch renounced his claim/is presumed dead? Is it Schniezel? I can't remember if the succession was ever explained...but I need to know for a story I'm planning. Thank you so much!

i probably shouldn't even be answering this because i'm not up to date on the anime, but wasn't it clovis, and after lulu shot him, it's up in the air & they're fighting for it? that was my impression, anyway...i'm probably wrong, though. ^_^ but it'd be cool to know.

It's the First Prince who'll immediately succeed the Emperor. You can see him here on this scan - it's the bearded guy at the top of the page. You see him during the Emperor's speech, sitting next to Schneizel (the Second Prince).

Clovis, Lelouch and Nanaly were somewhat at the bottom of the succession ladder.

My apologies. Clovis is indeed the third prince...but Lelouch is the eighth PRINCE, and, if you count the PRINCESSES coming in between, he is the seventeenth in LINE for the throne.

He was just one of the youngest imperial children born so he's quite at the bottom of the ladder, like Nunnally. However, if someone before him, be it a prince or a princess, dies, he'll go one notch up the succession line.

Lelouch nevertheless cannot become the Emperor as the throne goes to the firstborn, who is the bearded prince shown in the pic I posted earlier on.

well, we don't really know .____. we would assume it's the first prince, but the scan anonymous gave says that he actually has no power? so i guess it's whoever the emperor wants?

Yes, I think the first Prince is just the first son, and Schneizel is the second, and Clovis the third etc.

(Schneizel and Clovis both have the blonde hair, so I'm just assuming they are full sibs - Schneizel and Lelouch have very similar eyes though, so I assume they're from Dad's side - I know genetics isn't quite that easy, but...for simplification's sake! XD)

However, I really get the impression that the Emperor buys very much into the survival of the fittest scenario; the next in line to the throne will actually be the one strong enough to take it from him and hold it, and not a traditional line of succession at all. But that's just what I think, thinkng about the Emperor's character.

I think he'd be quite proud of Lelouch. Which Lelouch would hate and it would be hilarious.
