Terminology in Code Geass

Hi there. I'm a fansubber who is probably going to fansubbing Code Geass. I was wondering if I could call upon this LJ community to help with the terminology? :) I'm sure there are various scanalation created terms, and we're having a little difficulty in the staff room deciphering some acceptable use for them.

Example of what I mean, one of the machines... kanji reading is Hitogata jizai sentou soukou ki...
hitogata-humanoid
jizai-free/at will
sentou- combat
soukou-armor
ki-machine

We decided on "Mobile Humanoid Combat Armor" for that, but I have no idea what the scanalators or anything are using...

Hey. Welcome.

There aren't any officially released scanlations as of yet. The translators and editors are busy revising what they have.

It's really kind of you to let us in on your work.

I think what you have sounds ok..."humanoid" sounds a little odd if it is referring to the mech. (maybe Mobile-suit combat armor?) For terminology, I think you might want to check some gundam reference sites. They use similar terms and do not translate them as literally. You can always post notes in the fansubs or at your group's site for things that may become ambiguous later. I'm sure once you release an episode, you'll be able to get as much feedback as you want..(^_^)

yes... no scanlations out yet... *shuts up and runs away* and even if they were out, there hasn't been any um... nightmare flames (?) out to tell you the scanlated term used :P

have you actually tried the offical site? i haven't watched the raw yet (yes, i'm being stupid) but i know there's some names up there in english .____.

i JUST saw the kanji of the phrase, and i'll agree with nokiratt and say your decision is fine :)

just one thing, is the nightmare flame the name of the Mobile Humanoid Combat Armor? .__.

Haha, the gundam site referencing was actually option 2. XDD We were trying to avoid using "Mobile Suit" because of Gundam, but it does sound better. XD
