Things That Have Been Bugging Me

I've been waiting and waiting ever since Nunnally was revealed as the new governor - when is Kallen going to confront Lelouch about his heritage? She knows that Lelouch and Nunnally are siblings, being the only one of the student council to avoid the mind-wiping, and now she knows that Nunnally is royalty... connect the dots, Kallen! Anyone else find it strange that nothing has been done on this front?

In addition, it seems that Lulu sleeps with his contact in. The scene where Lelouch wakes up to Rolo watching him sleep in ep. 7, (having muttered 'Nunnally' in his sleep) his eyes are perfectly normal and Geass-less. Generally I'd avoid sleeping with contacts in, 'cause they can end up drifting to the back of your eyeball.

I've been sleeping with my contacts every night for 20 years now and they've never slipped back into my head nor have I suffered any adverse affects for it. I only take them out once a week for two hours to soak and then pop them back in.

I was told back then it was okay to sleep with them and I still believe that.

They only want you to take them out and clean them every night so you have to spend more money on products.

Actually there's a brand where they say SCREW THIS and say you can do the same thing you do. They're called night and day, and regular contacts only need to be taken out if you're a WHIIIMP XD

[identity profile] nomoreprinces.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
I'm so blind I run into more risk hurting myself without my contacts in at night than with them in at night. I can't see 6" in front of my face. The couple times I've been forced to take them out from random pink eye epidemics I crashed into everything. So not fun. XD

[identity profile] nomoreprinces.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
My eyesight has reached a point where they can't guarantee 20/20. I've been to a couple doctors in the area over the past five years and they won't do it.

Trust me I wish I could. It would cure 90% of my motion sickness while video gaming if I could just correct the astigmatism. ._.

[identity profile] celemna.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
Trust me man, I feel your pain. I'm only 16 and everything is so blurry I usually can't make out colors.

D:

[identity profile] x-reggg.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
so passed a certain point they can't get it back to perfect? DD:

there goes my plan of getting laser :(

[identity profile] nomoreprinces.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 07:06 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Something about my cornea being too thin as a result of a steadily worsening prescription. My sister had it done a few years back and now her eyes are starting to revert back. She needs glasses again.

[identity profile] x-reggg.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
why don't you wear glasses at night or something then? D:

[identity profile] nomoreprinces.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
Cuz I usually can't find them at night to put them on. XD Even if I manage to put them in the same spot and remember, I'll in a clutz attack send them to the floor and I'm screwed til morning.

[identity profile] x-reggg.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 08:57 am (UTC)(link)
XDDDDD i put my glasses on the bed side table then surround the edges of the table with other stuff so my glasses don't fall off that easily XD

[identity profile] othela.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 08:27 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, they call those something else over here - something booooring - and they go in and out once a month.

They changed my life... *sniff*

[identity profile] celemna.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
..Actually contacts don't do that, I wear night and days for two weeks all day and night, that's a common myth. Unless you can't wear contacts, it's fine to sleep in them.

Also, yes. I was thinking this very thing today, why hasn't Kallen gone on about it? I mean now it's just stupid, from the very beginning she must have to wonder why the fuck he was involved. XD

[identity profile] angeline831.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
It depends on the contacts. I have daily wear contacts because I have fairly bad astigmatism. Not supposed to sleep in those (I was warned against it by my eye doctor and the instructions for my contacts). ::shrugs:: Lulu should be fine, as it's modeled off a cosmetic contact, but some people really aren't s'posed to.

[identity profile] sephysarkon.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 08:11 am (UTC)(link)
^^ Actually they can, though I think [livejournal.com profile] angeline831 is correct in that it depends on the type. I say this 'cause my uncle ended up with his hard contacts in the back of his eyes, so needed surgery to get them out DD:

I've been wondering about that too--you'd think Kallen'd figure it out now ^^;

Generally I'd avoid sleeping with contacts in, 'cause they can end up drifting to the back of your eyeball.

And this may lead to blindness. Maybe it was just for this time, since he just kept sleeping for a lot of time.

[identity profile] celemna.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
Normal contacts can do it and make you blind for a month, but unless you wear them for a year in the special brand (hey they stop Geass they must be magical anyway) they wont stick to your eyes. I wore them for 4 months and never took them out once...better health now XD

[identity profile] sanada.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
Well, there are extended wear gas permeable contact lenses that are FDA-approved to be worn continuously for 30 days, so he could sleep with them in. There's actually no way that a contact lens can slip to the back of your eye - there's a membrane that connects the eye to the eye socket which keeps dirt and lost eyelashes and contacts and stuff from getting back there and damaging stuff.

As for Kallen... um, maybe she's not that perceptive? ^_^; I still want to know where Lelouch got a million Zero costumes on short order! The helmets alone go for $200+ on Yahoo Japan Auctions...

re the contacts:
exactly what i wanted to say.

[identity profile] spleener.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 02:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Short version: LOL SUNRISE.

Long version: the Knights most likely already had a number of factories under their thumb to produce them all (staff are 99% Eleven anyway, the Brits in charge can be paid off or they can just do what they need to do behind their backs.) It's possible that they just did a 'legit' order, but I think that if they didn't use underground channels they would have tipped the Brits off to their plan.

[identity profile] meijioro.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
I think she knows, its just they haven't had really any down time to actually talk. First he was emo and was gonna get drugged up then his agreeing to the SAZ and then getting exiled all in a week, they really didn't have time to talk. They need to show them talking in episode 9 though. With all that downtime on the iceberg traveling to China there has to be a time for them to talk.

[identity profile] furato.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 08:39 am (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately, with all one million people on board (also a dog and maybe some mecha), I think there's a high chance they won't have a chance to talk in private without risking blowing his cover, especially since Kaguya is likely to be all over Zero.

[identity profile] meijioro.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 12:09 pm (UTC)(link)
They have to have a private room on there. Lelouch is a meticulous person. I wouldn't put it past him to have one on there to use as a temp office.

[identity profile] orchida.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
To add on to the crazy contact discussion, it really depends on the contact. I've fallen asleep with mine in many times and nothing has happened. (Gas permeable kind), although I do remember being told it can rip a layer off your eye if you fall asleep with them in. The eye can dry out, if I remember correctly... but that has never happened to me. Whereas my sister wears the soft kind, fell asleep once with them, took them out as soon as she woke up and then spent about a week not being able to open her eyes thanks to the contacts. But they're are ones you can sleep in too. But on the whole, this is Geass - I really don't think they would think about contact problems on the whole grand scale of things.

As for Kallen, I'm inclined to think they're probably going to neglect it. Who knows though...

[identity profile] ashura-sama.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
You can't sleep with some old kinds of contacts on because of hydration issues. The last contacts I've worn were made over ten years ago, so I don't know how today's common ones are in respect to that. We have overnight ortho-k today, though, which are contacts designed to be worn only while you're sleeping, so I don't think it'd be too far-fetched for an AU set a few years away from now to have contacts that are perfectly safe to sleep with.

[identity profile] fox-holland.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
It's a MAGICAL eye contact.

[identity profile] fujiappletan.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
when is Kallen going to confront Lelouch about his heritage?

OMG ME TOO. this has been bothering me. come on kallennnn. <3

i figure he wasn't like sleeping that time/he was knocked out so he didn't have the chance to take it out, or well b/c these are *SPECIAL* contacts maybe he doesn't need to take it out hmmm.

[identity profile] saverellawish.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
I thinking Kallen doesn't actually believe Nunnally is royalty by blood. More like she gained her title for being nobility, something to that effect. Either that or it just honestly hasn't sunk in yet that Nunnally's a princess so what does that make Lulu. Or shes only concerned with the fact he remains being Zero/ is Zero, I'm kinda betting on this one too.

As for the contact thing, my Dad actually did lose his contact in the back of his head once >_> But hes a moron and can't compare with Lulu. Lulu's made of awesome so this rule of not sleeping with your contacts obviously doesn't apply to him. Also, his contact is also smaller than his eye, so I'm guessing realism doesn't apply to contacts in anime.

[identity profile] huntress-9.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
not related to the topic but...
ur icon is awesome! XD

[identity profile] saverellawish.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
True, if thats the case I'm guessing our lovely Kallen is just way denser than we guessed.

Oh well, I'm sure someone will bring it up eventually. (Then again, they do keep pointing out 'hes the discarded Prince of Brittania,' so I guess you never know :/ I swear Sunrise leaves way too much to theorize about. Its fun, but come on).

[identity profile] x-reggg.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
it is possible to sleep with contacts, but it's not recommended. personally i would never sleep with contacts because my eyes dry out easily from contacts and it's just scary XD

[identity profile] powercorrupts.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 07:10 am (UTC)(link)
I expected a dramatic "wtf royalty" from Kallen, but I assume that C.C. must have told her about it, or else the writers are just stupid, or she hasn't really found a good time to ask about it.

My sister not only sleeps but swam college swim team with her contacts in. Got a few nasty eye infections from it, but it's not like the Geass doesn't look like pink-eye as it is.

[identity profile] sephysarkon.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 08:20 am (UTC)(link)
I've been wondering about that too, in regards to Kallen. Looks like others suggested possible reasons/scenarios that explain why she hasn't brought it up yet, though I'm more inclined to think that it's because the information didn't really sink in yet, she hasn't had the time to talk to him, or she's disbelieving/really dense.

RE: contacts. I replied to someone above me about that. My uncle got his contacts stuck in the back of his eye, so it's certainly possible. (I have too, actually, but luckily they weren't tooo far, so I was able to slide them back. Just barely though. Multiple times D:)

[identity profile] furato.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 08:42 am (UTC)(link)
Either:
- the writers forgot/are stupid
- Kallen is really stupid
- she already knows from C.C./Suzaku/Kirihara (speaking of which, is Kirihara dead or in China?)

[identity profile] jczala.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 11:36 am (UTC)(link)
Well, you can sleep with contacts on, but it's not advisable. I will never dare to wear my contacts when I sleep. And plus, my mom always remind me to remove them. But I did sleep with them once when I doze off in class.

[identity profile] spleener.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 01:54 pm (UTC)(link)
On the first point, it's possible (and in fact very likely, if only so they don't have to bother wasting writing/episode time on scenes regarding it) that CC explained it (along with what happened to Euphie) to Kallen at some point in the year between S1 and S2.

As far as the contacts thing... it's a Sunrise show. There are lots of details that won't make sense if you think about them too much, so you have to either say LOL SUNRISE and accept them, turn your brain off so you don't catch them at all, or try and figure out an explanation on your own.

[identity profile] fox-holland.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 02:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm actually amazed that she hasn't brought up Lelouch's Geass more often and still holds hate and contempt of SARJ even though Lelouch meet Euphie right before it all went downhill.

[identity profile] destructo-bot.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Could I add to this on 'things that bugged me in episode 7'?

HOW did the Vincent get wings, when Lakshata was nowhere near them? Between episodes six and seven, there was no time, no way. Also, how did Lelouch even know that the Order was in trouble? How in the world did he also know exactly where they were? What kind of map WAS that, anyway?

Sorry, I just had to get that off my chest... >_>

Oh, on the Karen thing... I figured she knew/figured it out, but it was a... slightly less pressing matter than everything else that's been happening. They might talk in ep. 9, though. What was the plot for that again? *goes to look up spoilers*

[identity profile] sharz.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)
The whole contacts drifting to the back of your eyeballs is something of a myth :D

[identity profile] miribai.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
All this had done for me is to scare me shitless about getting contacts. "Roll into the back of your eyes" D:

I second that. I am suddenly very fond of my glasses right now.

Thirded. ~seriously takes glasses off and looks at them fondly~

[identity profile] ladyassassin27.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Well I think there are only two explainations to Kallen not saying anything to Lelouch, either she's to thick to notice, or since she knows the Emperor likes screwing around with Lelouch and thinks this is just a plot of some sort. But I still feel these two theories are seriously lacking ... dammit Sunrise a little info would be good right now.
