Marianne's murder

Does anyone have any ideas about who killed Marianne? And why? I think it might have been V.V., but what would be his motive for killing her? What would be anyone's motive for killing her? Why not kill one of the other wives? Why was she the one that was murdered? No one would gain anything. I mean, even if it was a mistake that she was killed and the true objective was to kill Lelouch and Nunally. Lelouch and Nunally had absolutely no shot at the throne, so there would be no point in taking them out. The only was she was important (as far as I know) was that Cornelia looked up to her and she was Lelouch's and Nunally's mother. But then again, she must have been important enough for Jeremiah to be assigned to protect her.

Any ideas?

I also like the idea Marianne staged her own death. Either she planned the whole thing, or she knew about the cult and that they were going to kill her. Being as CC has been watching Lelouch since at least the age of 9, and that CC keeps up a correspondence with Marianne, I would suspect she has a connection to the cult. If VV replaced CC as leader around the same time, that could all tie in? CC took Marianne's side, VV took Charles'?

The fun of speculations~

That's an interesting idea. Marianne was killed and then C.C. was overthrown by V.V., making him the leader. It also brings in the question if you need to have a powerful contractor (ie Charles, Lelouch maybe Marianne) to be the leader of the Cult. Then again it might just be who has the most knowledge or support.

In the first episode you see C.C. watching Suzaku and Lelouch play as the Britannian Army rolls on in. Or it's in one of those flashbacks.

Episode 1 of the first season. It shows CC watching Suzaku & Lelouch as children. I don't know if it pops up in a flashback again ... but yeah, she's definitely wearing a kimono and in the sunflower field
