Anybody wants a happy ending?

Hmm just a random thought.

Since the appearance of Orange-kun with his Geass-canceller-Geass, I always thought if only he had appeared sooner, Euphie's dead might not happen. If sunrise wants to end Geass in happy-ending atmosphere, I think they could introduce some character that could use Time-rewinding Geass or whatsoever so LeLouch could cancel his geass on euphie.

Anyway that's just a random thought from me, after watching the ep 17 and how angsty it turned out to be. Sunrise most likely won't introduce some cheesy plot twist, but again we never know, it's more suitable for fanfiction lol. xD

But again, I think Euphie's death is the saddest thing in Geass, anybody actually wished she hadn't died?

I'm glad that Euphie died. If no-one died, i bet this sounds cruel... But i probably wouldn't be as interested in the series. It's good that it has twists like that :D

[identity profile] luinthoron.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 09:15 am (UTC)(link)
Rewinding time should not be possible with Geass. Even Rolo cannot actually stop time.

But yeah, Euphemia's death was almost as bad as Shirley's... :(

[identity profile] luinthoron.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 09:23 am (UTC)(link)
That would work. Unlikely to happen in the series, but it fits well with the nature of Geass.

Just wanted to let you know that your lj cut doesn't work. :D;;;;

[identity profile] sevoth.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 11:07 am (UTC)(link)
I'd really rather they not undo Euphie's death. It's so vital to Lelouch's character development and the themes of the series -- sacrifice, bearing the consequences of your actions, and the whole "you will win this war, but what will you lose in the process?" Although I wouldn't be adverse at all to them going back and killing her off more believably. "lol, oops, bad joke" does not quite cut it.

AAAAH SPOILERS JUST APPEARED ON MY FLIST! DDDDD:

Gah.

Please, please fix that lj cut. ;-;

[I realise I sound a bit bitchy. Sorry. I don't actually mind that much ^^;;... it'll be a while before I have a life that doesn't consist of hw again, but still. Spoilers are never good. ^^]

>hmm how about Memory-looking-Geass that enable Suzaku peeking into Lelouch's memory and witnessed the truth by himself (like done by C.C.)?

That was what I thought... Since Suzaku would NEVER believe Lulu unless he lies, the best way to know the truth is to see it with his own eyes... If Lulu tells Suzaku the truth about Euphie, 'I accidentally Geassed her...' Suzaku might be so pissed off and scream, 'It's just another excuse!! Stop lying to me!! Ha!! Accident!! How could that possibly happen??!!' *continues stamping on Lulu's head*

It's so sad that sometimes the truth are twisted into another version because of our suspicion and doubts...

>I'm sure it will add more angst to the plot.

Oh YES~~ Then Suzaku will be sobbing the Oh-I'm-such-a-jerk-a-moron-what-have-I-done soap opera... XDDD

[identity profile] sukiyakiya.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 11:33 am (UTC)(link)
call me cold hearted, coz this isn't the first time i saw anime based war theme, never felt once for crying into character death. There will be a cost to gain something, that was a principle of war

[identity profile] nokiirat.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 11:39 am (UTC)(link)
please fix your lj-cut.

[identity profile] klingon-jedi.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 11:41 am (UTC)(link)
But that's what made it so deliciously cruel. Lelouch gives up the whole revenge thing to work with his half-sister instead, uses a poor choice of words, has her do a 180, staining her name, killing hundreds, and forcing him to kill someone he dearly loves, further complicating his relationship with Suzaku, driving both him and Cornelia, but all working in his revenge plot's favor better than he could ever plan. For such a calculating character, to lose control over a situation like that is delightfully twisted from a storytelling point. It's great because it was an accident.

As for happy endings Lelouch's (and mine) all but died with Shirley. There can only be bittersweet ones now.

[identity profile] megami-tsuki.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 12:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm more sad about Shirley dieing than Euphie...Shirley had come around and was really the only one that had come to understand Lulu's pain and would have been a nice support for him.

I don't know what the heck Sunrise is thinking... every time they could have a happy ending they've have an, "ooop wait! "and that's when everyone dies" plot twist.

Euphie: "Can't we all just get along? ^_^"

And they all lived happily ever aft-

Sunrise: No wait! *shoots Euphie in the head*

Shirley: Lulu! I love you anyway...even tho you killed my dad. Let's get married and have a million babies :D

And they all lived happily ever aft-

Sunrise: No wait! *shoots Shirley in the head...um stomach*

Suzaku: I hate you and everything you stand for!...but I guess I could help you out a bit...

And they all lived happily ever aft-

Sunrise: No wait! *shoots Suzaku in the ....other head* XD I wish *Betray plot twist of DOOOM!*

I'm gonna be really pissed if they end up just killing off Nunally...But they can't be THAT sadistic...can they?

[identity profile] knittedninja.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 12:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I can see Euphie's death. It was a plot device, I suppose. A sad one, but as far as character development and stuff goes it fits.

I was admittedly more depressed about Shirley. >_>;

[identity profile] wina8a.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 01:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope!! Drawn by the original mangaka CLAMP~~ It's an omake...

[identity profile] kaiserkehl.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 01:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm a fan of happy endings, almost always but with Code Geass... I don't know, I'm not sure it'd be fitting.

[identity profile] megami-tsuki.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 01:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe they'll have a bitter sweet ending, like Lulu dieing, but he saved everyone doing it and it achieved world peace, so in the end he's remembered as a hero, and they have a scene with Nunally and Kallen standing in front Lulu's grave looking back on what a wonderful person Lulu actually was and look forward to the peaceful future ahead and there's flower petals and rainbows and birds singing and crap...XD

You know, I could totally see Lulu sacrificing himself in the end.
But it would suck if they kill Nunally...I mean then it would be two seasons of Lulu trying to help/save her all for nothing.

[identity profile] megami-tsuki.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 01:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm all for an "Everyone dies" ending at this point...I've sort of given up hope for a happy ending by now...

[identity profile] tanzentravis.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 02:14 pm (UTC)(link)
An everyone dies ending would be great.

[identity profile] scuba-dooba.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
It's also vital to Lelouch's relationship with Suzaku, as well as Suzaku's character development.

[identity profile] scuba-dooba.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 02:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"That was what I thought... Since Suzaku would NEVER believe Lulu unless he lies, the best way to know the truth is to see it with his own eyes... I lol'd at the "Suzaku would NEVER believe Lulu unless he lies" bit XD It's so true

[identity profile] scuba-dooba.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
yes.

[identity profile] miribai.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm evil so I'm just going to go out and say it. Euphie's death (and the epic bloody way she died) is probably the best thing to happen to anime since Spike Speigal. Anime had become so boringly predictable with their plots and plot twists. Nowadays you can see the most cliche things coming from a mile away. But what happened to her, the sweetest most caring mary sue character since God knows who, flipping out, picking up a machine gun and murdering people...BEST.TWIST.IN.DECADES. That proved to me that this genre of storytelling hasn't fallen into the pit of jaded predictability yet. That there are stories still out there that can make you sit straight up in your chair and go "WTF!"

tl;dr: bravo sunrise for not being afraid to get your hands irrevocably dirty.

Shirley's death seemed kind of pointless to me. Don't get me wrong, great stuff excellent drama. It just seemed like another big middle finger in Lelouch's face that was already accomplished with Euphie. But I didn't care for her too much so I don't much care that she's dead.

[identity profile] scuba-dooba.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 02:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm all for happy endings but at this point I dunno if Code Geass could manage it.

I don't want Lulu to die, though. That would be too Death Note-y for my liking.

I think that, seeing as so many innocent people (Euphie, Shirley, etc.) have already died there is no room for a "happy" ending per se, but there is room for a bittersweet one.

Don't think Sunrise will let everyone live, though.

[identity profile] miribai.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 02:24 pm (UTC)(link)
A happy ending for me btw, is Suzaku dying in despair realizing how much of a jerk he's been and how many lives he could have saved if he had just joined with Zero. And Lelouch dying the hero that the world recognizes.

Nunally takes over the world with Ohgi and Villeta as her advisors and Orenji as her knight. <--- Best end ever!

[identity profile] scuba-dooba.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I don't think that Lelouch and Raito are all that similar at all. Lelouch is much, much more human than Raito, and much less willing to sacrifice innocent people. There is hope for Lelouch. Sort of. If Lelouch died for his cause it would seem more...noble than Raito's death.

[identity profile] brokensocks.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the ending would be a neutral one. Both sides will lose a lot, and nothing will be gained.

[identity profile] brokensocks.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Nunally? You can never have too many loli overlordesses.

[identity profile] arhel.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Happy ending for whom?

Even if the Euphemia incident was averted and her SAR succeeds, there will be Japanese who are not satisfied with that. The Emperor would still be doing his nebulous Ragnarok plan, and so forth. If the events of R2 never happened, a number of characters would still be alive, but some would be worse off - Rolo would still be an emotionless assassin, C.C. not any closer to her wish or even having someone understand her, Kaguya would not have met or befriended Tianzi, etc.

[identity profile] darkfox200.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
There technically was one that let you see memories/read minds. But it drove Mao insane, so I'm not sure how much help it would have been to anyone who had it.

I don't really belive in happy end... and I'm really afraid, that the major part of characters I love will die. (waaa.. I want Ougi and Viletta live happily together!!) But.. I somehow don't really think that Lelouch will die like a hero. Waa.. I want him alive in the end. And I really want Suzaku to become the ruler of Japan doing everything to be better than his father. =)

[identity profile] kusaja.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
If Lelouch dies, I think he will die happy after completing his objectives to the best of his abilities.

So a bittersweet but overall positive ending is what I can see if his death is necessary.

[identity profile] sukiyakiya.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
not only sunrise, some of anime that have 'war' theme always have someone dead (and it was important person too), maybe you should catch more, i recommended for Last Exile, Persona TS, RahXephon, Darker than black. Almost of them are pretty serious story, maybe you can sleep during the show, but it worth to watch, deep scenario, and off course there a dead during a show^^;

For Gundam, yeah...well i dunno, i'm just Old gundam follower (Gundam, Gundam G, Gundam Z, Gundam ZZ, and the ova that i'm forgot which series) and i didn't saw a new gundam yet^^; (probably a bit lazy). But there a lot of death indeed, but there a magic of anime, THE CAMEO CHARACTERS THAT CONSIDERED STANDARD, NORMAL OR EVEN UGLY WILL BE DIE FIRST THAN THE BEAUTY OR HANDSOME ONE XD that was a magic of anime :D:D

[identity profile] megami-tsuki.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
XD I know really...It's kinda and anime cliche I wouldn't be surprised if Sunrise pulled that on us.
Something about Japanese culture I've learned is that they love tragic heros

[identity profile] sukiyakiya.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 07:11 am (UTC)(link)
euphie died in first season EPS 23 that was far enough, if you want an example, here we go, MISTER CLOVIS that show up and die in EPS 01 first season^^;
