I play too many video games. I apologize to those who take the storyline SERIOUS BUSINESS-ly.

You know how Geass is with the whole FREIYA(FREIJA? Ah, who gives a crap anyway, you know what I'm talking about. TEH NUKE) thing, and how it's really hard to find someone to blame for the BAWWWWNUNNALLY since pretty much everyone had a hand in it? (Well, it's easy to lay the blame on Nina, if we wanna point fingers I guess, since hardly anyone likes her anyway and most secretly hope she'll be killed by tale-riding commando penguins in the next episode...)

Anyway, I have finally found the answer. The reason sunrise decided to drop the nuke and kill of Nunnally was because of...

YURI LOWENTHAL!

That's right. Yeah, he's the English voice actor for Suzaku. And the reason why Suzaku nuked Japan.

You've heard of Tales of the Abyss, haven't you? Yuri Lowenthal voiced Luke in that one, a passive-suicidal guy who wants to "change" instead of "obliterate" the world. Oh, and he blew up an entire town once, too.

Sound familiar? And let us not forget that half of the English voice cast of Geass were also in Tales of the Abyss and their characters are slightly similar. It's a conspiracy, I tell you!

And with the revelations that R2 was NOT AS PLANNED by Sunrise due to the new timeslot, perhaps this scenario took place:

"Oh did you hear? Yuri Lowenthal is voicing Suzaku in the English dub."
"Wasn't he the Luke in Tales of the Abyss?"
"Oh shit, man, I love that game!"
"..."
"LETS HAVE SUZAKU NUKE A TOWN!"

And thus, the idea for FREIYA was born.


So please, Yuri Lowenthal, I beg of you, do not voice any more passive-suicidal anime characters. You'll end up making them blow up more crap, and making us go all emo for a week. Thank you.





**Note: this topic was in no way serious and only made because I was all "Lolz. Suzaku nuked a town just like Luke!" while packing my precious copy of Tales of the Abyss for college. Also because it's funny to imagine an Asch vs. Suzaku scenario. WHO WOULD WIN?! D:**

!!! IT ALL MAKES SENSE ... and now I can't wait to hear these scenes in English, so I can scream at Luke Yuri Lowenthal once more. (I wish I had an Abyss icon at the ready ...)

Oh yeah, I knew about Yukana voicing C.C. and Tear. In fact, whenever I play Tales of the Abyss, it's kinda funny to imagine Suzaku, Lelouch, C.C., Lloyd, and whoever else is in there in the same places as the Abyss people. XD

I never thought of that. Maybe it's because I've only watched a few episodes of the English version, so I didn't make the Luke-Suzaku connection. Wait, there are lots of Tales of the Abyss voice actors in Code Geass? I've only heard about Yuri Lowenthal and Johnny Young Bosch (I think that's his name, the voice actor for Guy and Lelouch). Um, I think Dist's voice was in there somewhere? And in the Japanese version, Tear's seiyuu Yukana voices C.C.

Yeah, Dist's voice actor is Lloyd in the English dub. Which is funny, since Lloyd because a FABULOUS mecha-loving supervillain. :D

Also Ougi is voiced by Kirk Thornton who plays Jade Curtis and C.C. is played by Kate Higgins who plays Arietta.

It gets even funnier when you realize he also voices Simon from Gurren Lagann. Not only does he nuke a town (okay more like blow up) but he's brought to trial for it and sentenced to death. Double win.

Come to think of it, why aren't there more Spinzaku/Gurren Lagann Spin On crack crossovers. 4chan fails (or something).

I was thinking about this too! Like, just last night, too. Creepy. I wonder if it's just coincidence or the dubbing companies here go "Oh hey, Yuri Lowenthal acted this character in this series, he's kinda similiar to our character in our series... let's see how he does!" And not just for Yuri, but for other voice actors, too.

Strangely enough, that crossed my mind when I started replaying Tales of the Abyss yesterday.

At least that scenario didn't go like this:

"Oh did you hear? Yuri Lowenthal is voicing Suzaku in the English dub."
"Wasn't he Dean in Wild ARMs 5?"
"Oh, shit, man, I love that game."
"..."
Suzaku: "I'm looking for Johnny Appleseed Zero!"

I shudder at the thought.
