It's official. Code Geass has been licensed by Bandai.

7 days away from 24 and 25 too!! .T________T Not like we didn't see it coming.... Wonder if this will affect subbing. Probably not, but still.


EDIT: From ANN, "Bandai Entertainment announced its North American acquisition of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, which is confirmed for an American television broadcast during 2008."

GG and Shinsen will probably still sub it. GG was subbing Coyote Ragtime after it was licensed and Shinsen was still releasing quite a few licensed titles well after the dvds were available.

I was pretty sure Shinsen wouldn't be stopping but I didn't know about gg since I hadn't downloaded anything from them before Geass. That's good to know though, thanks! .^^

Well, it would happen at some point. I don't know whever I'm disappointed by this announcement or not but I do have to admit that Bandai are not that bad. They've licensed quite a lot of good anime titles over the years.

Bandai's decent, imo. They were pretty much the only one I had in mind for licensing Code Geass since Geass is a Sunrise production.

I'm pretty sure it won't affect the subbing much. Maybe Bandai can sympathize with us; we've waited so long, haha.

*laughs* Geass would never be licensed by 4Kids or any licensors of that kind. X.D Geass is a Sunrise production so pretty much the only company that could license it was Bandai. I don't think I know of any Sunrise licenses by anyone other than Bandai.

Really? I would definitely check out the dub if it were on TV. Kirby Morrow.... Would be kinda weird if Suzaku sounded like Miroku. .^^;;

Shinsen dropped DTB cuz they've had probs with FUNimation in the past. You can dl from Syndicate though. .^_~

BANDAI did a decent job with Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu so I'm not too worried. I sorta expected FUNi to pick Geass up. I don't know why. *shrugs*

I knew Bandai would be the one to get it if it were licensed since Geass is by Sunrise. Sunrise stuff is always licensed by Bandai, as far as I know.

Fudge. My wonderful day of reading Harry Potter has been ruined. I don't know why but I'm starting to hate Otakon... they announced the license of Ouran by Funimation too damn you Otakon!

I was expecting it though, with all the hints of Pizza Hut and Coke Zero in the ASOS Haruhi movies.

I can't believe they want to air it though, I was sure that they'd have to think twice about it with America being to Terrorist paranoid.

Bandai is a good company though, they did an okay job on Haruhi, I hope they'll try hard to promote Geass like they did with Haruhi.

If worse comes to worse, they'll edit out any explosions or falling buildings on TV but keep them on the DVDs. I remember the Cowboy Bebop movie was postponed because of 9/11 right?

I'm Canadian but I can't help feeling uncomfortable sometimes when I see explosions in large buildings in anime and all. I don't know... :x It's just me though. Others are desensitized to this sort of stuff.

Bad freakin' timing. -____- They couldn't wait a bit longer? *sighs* Oh well, even if the fansub groups don't sub it there are still RAWs. I imagine some underground group will pick it up eventually as well. I mean I did eventually want it licensed cause I do want a nice shiny dvd box set, but I just wish it was better timed.

Aww, hell no. D: They're going to screw up badly with the voice acting, I just know it. I really hope fansubbers won't stop subbing the series, 'cos I am NOT paying for a DVD with bad voice acting (which is pretty much every licensed series out there). DVDs with bad voice acting are not worth my money, even if I choose never to watch them in English.

Well, this is interesting. So long as Bandai doesn't fuck this up, it probably won't be terrible, as Bandai's dubs are usually rather good. (Gundam Seed, Wing, G Gundam, etc.)

I just hope that GG and Shinsen don't stop subbing. I don't know about Shinsen, but I'm pretty sure GG won't stop, atleast...

If they don't, then it'll be subject to terrible editing, no matter where it airs. I mean, it's not really suitable for normal Toonami, unless they edit the fanservicy things out (like Viletta's boobs D:), and they'd take out some of the explosions and shit, due to 'terrorism' scaring people and people being too sensitive to things like this.

Adult Swim is really the only place it wouldn't be completely butchered, really, though it still isn't the best place, either. Cartoon Network is really the only network that shows anime anymore, so it's either Adult Swim or Toonami, and I'd much rather have Adult Swim air it unedited than Toonami butcher it.
