R2?

As usual I'm slow at catching up with fandom talk, so forgive me if I'm asking a silly question.

Does anybody know what "R2" stands for?

Also, does anybody remember a quote (I think it is C.C.'s) in which she asks about the "meaning of a meaningless life" or something like that? I've been trying to remember this one for weeks now. I wonder if I dreamed about it...

Nobody knows what "R2" stands for.

Is that quote from anime?

The only quote featuring C.C. about a meaningless life that comes to my mind is from ep. 7:

Lelouch: I was dead until the moment I met you. A powerless corpse which was lying to itself and pretending to live. A life that lives without doing anything... it's the same as slow death. If I must live as I did before, then...
C.C.: Wait. True, there is no meaning to a life like that.

Did I guess?

I'm thinking Reich II. I'm probably wrong though lulz.

Rebellion 2? since they still have Lelouch of the Rebellion on the title.

That's my guess as well. :/ Maybe Sunrise just wants to add letters at the end like Sailor Moon.

"Reboot Reality" (i.e., reset the universe so the events of Season 1 never happened)?

Hey, since C.C.'s name is pronounced "C2" and V.V. is called "V2," I don't see why R2 can't actually mean "R.R."

Unless "R2" refers to Rollo? Who knows?

[identity profile] wyn209.livejournal.com 2008-01-10 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
xD CC's name wasn't pronounced C2, it was shi-tsu. They did it like that since a smaller つ or ツ meant the repetition of the consonant before it. :o

[identity profile] gatekeepers-21.livejournal.com 2008-01-10 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Really? I always thought it was engrish because it did sound like a C and a two. In the American dub they say C2 (what am I saying? American dub is always made out of fail, sigh.) so I thought they were just 'honoring' the Japanese script/pronunciation.

[identity profile] lulu-quality.livejournal.com 2008-01-11 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
It is meant to be pronounced C2. It just that there aren't phonetic sounds for "see" and "too" in Japanese. Don't randomly blame the American dub until you have proof they are wrong. Lelouch commented in episode 10 about how "C.C. wasn't a human name" since it was simply a letter and a number.

[identity profile] gatekeepers-21.livejournal.com 2008-01-11 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
So it is C2! I didn't mean to seem like I was blaming CG American Dub in particular, I just meant American Dub in general, since they always lack in quality.

And I kinda was referencing American Dub of CG on how they were 'honoring' the japanese phonetics of saying 'C2'.

Sorry if I sounded like I was bashing them x:

Sorry about getting on your case about it -_-;;; I think I came across too strongly.

[identity profile] gatekeepers-21.livejournal.com 2008-01-11 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
Don't worry about it ^^;

[identity profile] wyn209.livejournal.com 2008-01-12 07:20 am (UTC)(link)
rofl :| refer to my comment to sevthebat's comment. Was my bad, haha. <_<;; Sorry for the confusion. XD

[identity profile] sevthebat.livejournal.com 2008-01-11 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
This may be a moot point now, but you don't pronounce a small ツ in spoken Japanese. When there is nothing after it, it indicates a pause or hesitation.

Therefore, CC's "tsu" has to be the larger character, which is used for the English "two".

[identity profile] wyn209.livejournal.com 2008-01-12 07:19 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. xD Just thought of it as a possibility though. Then looked back on my comment and remembered that っ/ッ repeats the consonant AFTER it. rofl. :|

R2 is just something they put at the end of titles I guess.=P
So say the people at Animesuki. I dunno if it has any "real" meaning besides to emphasize the fact that it is another season or whatever.

Wasn't the experiment C.C. was in called R2? Or something..? >>

[identity profile] lisa-patrikevna.livejournal.com 2008-01-11 01:57 pm (UTC)(link)
It was called CODE-R (http://randomc.animeblogger.net/image/CODE%20GEASS/CODE%20GEASS%20-%2024%20-%20Large%2001.jpg).
