Ah, but the day he shot Clovis was the same day he geassed Vialetta and he was riding the same adrenaline wave. I think he has both the superiority complex (look at his posing ways) and was drunk on the power. Later, when he thought about what he'd done, he was shocked. He couldn't shoot Euphemia at a later point.
