I really enjoy the way you write Mao. It definitely has his sing-song quality. I also enjoy Lelouch's defiance toward his death, so sure of himself even now.
I think the geass really is the vow. You make the vow and you get your wish more or less. As long as you are under the vow, your wish continues. Like you Mao said, it makes sense that if your power makes you no longer to complete your vow (going crazy), there is a heavy consequence. I'm not sure what causes the wish's power to go into overdrive, maybe its the stronger need for it. This makes me want to see Lelouch in a true near-death experience to see whether the World of C would haunt the edges of his conscious.
