I know a lot of the fanbase is the same, but Geass...just works really, really differently. The hero's goal/desire in SeeD is to stop the cruel war, which coincides with Lacus', while that is clearly not the case with Euphemia. Instead of showing her decision to be wise (because war is cruel and should be stopped) we're shown that it's naive (because life is cruel and struggling is the only way).
And I don't know...I really liked Lacus, but that's probably because---despite the pink hair and Peace for All---she's actually a smart woman. In a way, she could sort of be Lelouch if he's born as Euphemia. Yuffie COULD be like that, but we haven't seen her doing anything yet. (Lacus didn't actually 'show' her smart side until very late, I know, but still!)
