You could do the JR night bus from Osaka, it's about 8000 yen one way. BTW my friend who use to live down near you said that if you're just paying for one person it is often cheaper/easier to just fly to Tokyo. I want to say the big Feb event is at the Ryutsu Center again which is actually on the monorail going out to the airport. There was a Geass/Seed only event there on 10/8.
There is also going to be a LuluSuzu event in January in Tokyo but I forgot the date, I will look through my papers I picked up if you want the info.
If you decide to go I can recommend a great hotel in Tokyo, though it can book up really fast.
