Well, if you went you could always takyuubin your purchases back. It's not so expensive. If I had the money to go to Japan I would love to go, but I think GW is my next trip. The doujin con is most of a day but not all the day, by 3ish you could definitely head out to do other shopping.
I prefer actual business class hotels now cause I like my internet and completely private room and private bathroom. lol
Cause you have to use the monorail, it's more expensive than the regular trains but it do-able. There might be some cheaper night buses but I hear the JR ones are the nicest and you are most likely to be able to sleep on them.
