R2 Episode 4 Discussion

Hey guys, let's get some good discussion going here!

I especially want to hear everyone's thoughts on the way Lelouch manipulated Rolo (oh, and I guess that is the official spelling now). Is it not what the majority of us predicted?

What's really interesting to me is Rolo's past. Does that end the Rolo = Nunally theory? Or were those memories created as well?

[identity profile] norikosama.livejournal.com 2008-04-28 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
I kind of expected that Lelouch would manipulate Rolo. Of course he won't let go of Nunally. In addition, Rolo was an agent who faked being his brother for a whole year, only to later point a gun at the back of his head. As soon as he protected him, I'm just thinking, "There's no way he just did that just for it...he already figured out the limitations in that room, and he probably Geassed the guy to do it so he could get to Rolo." And 3 corny minutes later, whoopdedoo, I'm right. Unfortunately, Rolo's conversion just had to be so sweet. Way to ruin the moment and make me think you're a total jackass Lelouch. D:< I like mah Rolo.

I kind of had my suspicions when Lelouch just randomly protected Rolo, but other than that I didn't see it coming. D : I feel kinda bad for Rolo, though. He's so adorable that it almost made Lelouch look like the villain.

I want to see what happens with Suzaku being back at Ashford and all.

I was actually surprised that Lelouch predicted Vincent's movements to such a degree that he was able to order Darlton to shot him at an exact moment. When Lelouch jumped in front of the bullet I thought it was one of those 'chance!' moments and Lulu went for it. I should have expected it was planned though, considering this IS Lelouch we're talking about.

The Rolo manipulation seemed really chancy on Lelouch's part to me. Rolo looked pretty unstable near the end there and that alone is dangerous enough. He's gonna be even worse if he finds out Lelouch really was lying to him the entire time. It was a good idea to get Vincent on his side, but I really hope he does begin to develop some form of brotherly feelings for Rolo or the boy is going to find out sooner or later when his acting silps.

wait, where did you guys watch the episode? I thought it wasn't out yet. Did you guys watch the raw version?

[identity profile] shizuka85.livejournal.com 2008-04-28 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
I feel sorry for poor Rolo, and I'm kinda mad at Lelouch right now for using him like that. I hope that Lelouch will start to care about Rolo for real.

[identity profile] snozzlenut.livejournal.com 2008-04-28 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
I feel so bad for Rolo but I really can't bring myself to hate Lelouch because that was a cracking good plan =D I hope Lelouch can grow to not hate him, I could do without another shoot-out between two great characters.
Got to say one must really not take a drink whilst watching Code Geass because the appearance of Suzaku in school uniform at the end warranted a cheer from me..forgetting about the drink...and almost choking to death.
Death by Code Gess. Fun times ;)

Just go back a few entries, and you'll find the download links.

Lulu's actions were totally evil, yes. Yet quite entertaining. Wonder what's going to happen with Rolo. Will he go batshit crazy in the future? I hope so...I miss Suzu going batshit crazy.

And Suzu is back! :D Looks like the next ep is going to be....special O_o

Have to say I laughed hysterically at Brittania going *FWOOOOOSH* "OH CRAP D:"

...Lulu you're such an evil bastard. But I still love you.

I believe it is subbed and available right now, and man are they quick. Ah, the manipulation, and we learned a bit about the ever mysterious Rolo, though I can almost feel bad for the guy, being manipulated by Lelouch like that. I just know it is gonna create problems. Well, I hope the next episode is good.

Next Episode: Ashford Antics Ahoy!

Least that was what I judged from the preview, with some movements of plot in there. Though I wonder how long the Ashford Antics (Coining that term) will last? Hm, just a thought.

I was disappointed in Guilford and the Glaston Knights getting fooled so badly. They were so badass in Season 1, and already 2 Glaston Knights are gone. =(

And i'm starting to get annoyed on how Lelouch can possible sneak into everywhere, and Geass everyone so his plan is always so flawless. I understand it's the beginning of the season so it'll keep happening until some cooler villain pops up to outsmart it.

[identity profile] zerorevenge.livejournal.com 2008-04-28 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
Gladstone* not Glaston. I'm a tool. =(

[identity profile] tungwene.livejournal.com 2008-04-28 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
Poor Rolo, so easily played. I feel sorry for him but at the same time Lelouch was so awesome in this episode. Hopefully Lelouch will eventually warm up to his little brother and not betray him in the end. I mean the kid's so cute.

[identity profile] faye-naruse.livejournal.com 2008-04-28 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Poor, poor Rollo Rolo. Lelouch, you evil sexy bastard! >=D

*dying to see the next episode*

[identity profile] thornsmoke.livejournal.com 2008-04-28 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
In retrospect, I absolutely loved the delay between the set-up and the reveal, because once Rolo stopped the lance I thought that Lelouch had meant those things, and had to pause and bury my screams in the nearest pillow. Which made the eventual -- "prestige", I guess? all the more satisfying.

I do think that Rolo will find out some time in the future, though, about how Lelouch manipulated him, probably when it's most critical to Lelouch's plans that Rolo stay loyal. Because we've been shown that Lelouch is not beyond consequences. He can be brought low. And this scene is like - the gun on the mantelpiece to me. It's been shown to us and I refuse to believe that it won't be used before the end of the season.

I liked it all the more because I never believed for a second that Lelouch would sell out C.C., and so the first half of the episode was somewhat lacking in tension for me. Obviously Rolo couldn't kill Lelouch, C.C. would not be relinquished, and his followers couldn't be executed.

(Oh! On an even shallower level: I cracked up when Lelouch's Knightmare used the mob shield to surf his way down. That was excellent.)

Hmmm. So looking forward to seeing Lelouch interact with Suzaku under the guise of still being memory-less. That's got to strain his self-control. :D

[identity profile] demyx.livejournal.com 2008-04-28 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
BAW ROLO. T____T I damn near cried during those scenes where Lelouch was manipulating him because I knew that Lelouch wasn't being sincere, but I hoped anyway. So I felt just awful for the poor boy at the end when Lelouch revealed his true intentions.

I can't hate Lelouch either, but damnit. I agree with a lot of people, I hope that Lelouch and Rolo eventually get a real bond going there. I just want the boy to be happy, damnit. T_T

On another note, the origin of Rolo's Geass just got a bit more interesting. He didn't receive it recently, he's had it for... it seems like most of his life, so how come it didn't activate permanently like Mao's yet? And furthermore, I wonder who gave it to him. Was it still V.V., or...? XD Just was an interesting thing to think about.

[identity profile] faye-naruse.livejournal.com 2008-04-28 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
Oh! Oh! And did anyone else just love this guy?

He's so purdy and adorable, imo! XD
I totally gasped/squealed when he said who he was X3

Lelouch's actions do not surprise me at all. This is Lelouch after all. I don't think what Lelouch did was very nice understatement but I don't think it is any worse than what Lelouch did before. I also don't think this makes Lelouch a horrible bastard.

To Lelouch Rollo is not his brother but an imposter who is part of what took Nunally away from him. Thus he sees Rollo as his enemy. Lelouch still shows that there are people he cares about. Rollo just isn't one of them

Although it would be interesting if Lelouch does start caring for Rollo. If that happens Rollo will of course find out that Lelouch was just using him. That is guaranteed. Actually it is probably guaranteed he will find out even if Lelouch doesn't grow to care for him.

Seconded!

[identity profile] wing-goddessxxx.livejournal.com 2008-04-28 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
I kinda pity Rolo now.
I feel like he's going to end up foolishly dying for Lulu's sake or he's going to turn his back last minute due to his mental unstableness and try to kill Lulu instead. Either way, i just don't see a happy ending for that guy. I just hope Lulu doesn't put too much trust in him cause that's an easy Lulu screw over :\

RANDOM TOPIC

Anyone notice this midway through the ep?

THEY FINALLY FIXED IIIIT !! no more 'Revellion' xD

[identity profile] phantomess27.livejournal.com 2008-04-28 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
Thirded. XD

[identity profile] phantomess27.livejournal.com 2008-04-28 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
I pretty much have the same thoughts as everyone else, and just admired Lulu's skill once again. I felt a bit badly for Rolo, since he's caught in quite of a snafu there, and things may not turn out so well for him. ._.;

And actually, (me overthinking while watching) I was thinking about how wonderfully Lulu had pulled the same tactic by upending all the Britannians, but part of me wondered why on earth they'd enable the structure to do that in first place, since it only ends up with them being screwed over anyway. ;D

[identity profile] fujiappletan.livejournal.com 2008-04-28 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
so how come it didn't activate permanently like Mao's yet?

I was under the impression that those with the Geass and get consumed by its power lose control of it. Since Rolo does not really seem to really want anything aside from "finishing the mission" this hasn't applied to him so he has therefore never lost the control of his Geass? Least that is what I am guessing.

[identity profile] fujiappletan.livejournal.com 2008-04-28 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
Or were those memories created as well?

If they were and Nunally is Rolo.

...that sounds like one hell of a mindfuck. HowtheheckwouldLelouchgetoverthat. xD

[identity profile] fujiappletan.livejournal.com 2008-04-28 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
I can only say that Lelouch's manipulation of Rolo is going to totally bite him in the ass one day. Because I expect him to try to discard Rolo in some fashion should he have to for... say... Nunally's sake. But I really would like to see Rolo side up with the Black Knights. And maybe Lelouch getting a bit attached to him. Hell. The whole time in the episode even when he was faking it I fangirled so hard. Rolo why are you so precious kfdjgkdfg. *___*

I'm also interested to see how big a role the Chinese Federation will play. :O
