Hey guys, let's get some good discussion going here!

I especially want to hear everyone's thoughts on the way Lelouch manipulated Rolo (oh, and I guess that is the official spelling now). Is it not what the majority of us predicted?

In retrospect, I absolutely loved the delay between the set-up and the reveal, because once Rolo stopped the lance I thought that Lelouch had meant those things, and had to pause and bury my screams in the nearest pillow. Which made the eventual -- "prestige", I guess? all the more satisfying.

I do think that Rolo will find out some time in the future, though, about how Lelouch manipulated him, probably when it's most critical to Lelouch's plans that Rolo stay loyal. Because we've been shown that Lelouch is not beyond consequences. He can be brought low. And this scene is like - the gun on the mantelpiece to me. It's been shown to us and I refuse to believe that it won't be used before the end of the season.

I liked it all the more because I never believed for a second that Lelouch would sell out C.C., and so the first half of the episode was somewhat lacking in tension for me. Obviously Rolo couldn't kill Lelouch, C.C. would not be relinquished, and his followers couldn't be executed.

(Oh! On an even shallower level: I cracked up when Lelouch's Knightmare used the mob shield to surf his way down. That was excellent.)

Hmmm. So looking forward to seeing Lelouch interact with Suzaku under the guise of still being memory-less. That's got to strain his self-control. :D

Oh, I agree. That was so awesome! I bet the animators and writers loved putting that together.

They were probably giggling the whole time just thinking about it.

Really? My first thought when I heard the first of those lines spewed out from his lips was, "...bastard of all bastards." Tho I must admit not only is it a brilliant plan, it's prolly the only one he's got on hand to come out the victor of all hands, in a situation where no loss is minor, no less, but I'm seriously seeing less and less of the line between him and his old man.

Srsly, someone needs to shoot him. Maybe not to kill, not so early anyway, cos that'd prematurely end the series, but enough to make him hurt and bleed enough to feel a certain sense of hopelessness. That'd oughta make him get back in touch with his human side (with regards to other human beings) and wake him up before he goes past the point of no return. -.-;;

I guess it depends on how his relationship with Rolo develops further. Would it be one that has a silver lining, or would it be one that's rotten at the core? The answer would define Lelouch's character outcome in my books.

...are my initial thoughts right after watching episode 4. Thinking about it though, it does come to mind that what he's doing is one of the few ultimate self-sacrifices. I'm aware he said something about having to be the biggest evil of them all but...I don't really want him to see him go down that path and not look back even a bit cos even though he'll retain the very essence of his being, at least, he'll still lose everything else in order to achieve his goal.

that said, I still think he's a lot more like his old man than i'm sure he'd like to admit. xD

Um. Suzaku didn't shoot him, but I think that was still pretty hurt, hopeless, and humanizing.

Lulu bounced back. Curses!

I think Lulu losing everything is supposed to be a theme, here. Since the geass contract did state it would condemn him to a life of solitude 'n' all that. Hurts to watch, though.
