Oh I definitely approve of that take on it. You do need to actually experience to learn, and Lelouch has been too busy trying to regain his advantage and find his sister to allow himself that. So it makes perfect sense that he's relying on what he thought he knew and what he was familiar with to make his decisions. That actually makes me feel a lot more comfortable about his naivety here.
