While I'm sure most of the people here on Livejournal have valid reasons for disliking Suzaku, I strongly suspect that most of the bitchy fanboys (and "Lulu-chan"-obsessed yaoi fangirls) who whine about Suzaku are the type who identify too strongly with the hero, regardless of what flaws he may have (personally, I think both Suzaku and Lelouch have flawed philosophies in some ways; Suzaku doesn't seem as unhinged as Lelouch, but if some of these spoilers are true, he might be just as messed up). Therefore, when someone appears to get in his way but still be treated sympathetically by the anime, they get pissed off. It's not fair! Only the bad guys should ever get in their way--I mean, in the hero's way, so that he can quickly mow them down! Grrr! D:<
The Suzaku bashing is a bit much, but I'm mostly annoyed by the Euphemia-bashing myself, as well as the insistence that because she's an ingenue-type princess with pink hair, she is obviously nothing but a clone of Lacus. Despite the fact that she has very different issues than Lacus and also seems more actively interested in improving herself, just to touch on two differences. (Not that Lacus didn't also grow and change, but it was set off by a chance rescue, whereas even before she meets Suzaku, Euphemia is already dealing with troubles and striving to better herself.)
