Well, I'd personally want the ending to remain ambiguous without any canonical relationships. I mean, the attraction to Lelouch on Shirley and maybe even Kallen's part is there, but I can't imagine Lelouch actually going out of his way to pursue a romantic relationship unless he benefits somehow. I think the theme of friendship and family would be highlighted, focusing on Suzaku, Nunnally, and maybe even Rolo.
A tragic end would indeed fit the series. Something's going to happen to Suzaku. His rise to his position (while probably necessary for the show) is too quick and he's undergone a huge character shift. :S Lelouch going crazy is possible if Nunnally dies. D8
I kind of do if only to stop me from thinking so much. XD And yet when I reach the end I'll be saaaad.
