We all know that they have some sort back-story behind them. What is it, exactly?

 

I know this sound a bit strange, but I've been aching to discuss this really bad. Shall we?

Soooo, both Charlie and candy boy gained their Geass (Geasses?) from V.V.

I obviously think it's fair to say that Charles received it first, and when he was reasonably young too (a long time ago) considering that he calls Fivehead “nii-san”. Rolo apparently got his many, many years later, and a very young age as well (they showed him killing expertly at six; they must have been training the kid before).

One of my main questions is as to why Rolo recived a Geass.

V.V, at the time, still had his dear Charles at his side, whom was thriving at the throne, and had no need for any more contractors. So, this leads me to believe that Charles influenced who V.V. handed out a contract to. But why Rolo?

The most likely scenario is that he was just a Britannian orphan they picked up off the street and went, “Dude, let's make him an epic assassin lol.”, so they gave him a Geass.

I had almost thought for a few moments that Rolo might actually be the son of the Emperor (that would make LelouchxRolo incest for real, lawl) whom was birthed from a wife he had sometime between the birth of Lelouch and Nunally, but I immediately dismissed the idea because it would be all like, “What? Where was he during their whole childhood? They should have at least known he existed.” Well, Charles could have been horrified with his son's defenseless dewy-eyed uke-ness, so he sent him away for training with a Geass, so Rolo could one day become a knife-wielding, unfeeling, hardcore shota.

Since I think it's pretty clear that he (may) not be Charles's kid (Sunrise does have a way with making everyone related somehow, though), just dumping such a sacred power on a random little kid would be kinda strange, right? Even for the sake of assassination? If Rolo has one, and is working for the throne, it makes me wonder whether or not there are other Geass assassins, or if Rolo is the only one. Don't you think if there were other Geass assassins, they would all have to have something... I don't know, special?

Either way, it still brings me back to the question: Why did V.V/The Emperor desire to give Rolo a Geass?

Lkdjkljdsjkgdsf; this is so confusing, I hope the above post made some sort of sense. Your opinions?

Also, do you ever get that feeling that you just didn't do enough research, and the answer is really obvious, and you just know you'll feel REALLY stupid when someone points it out?

my crack!theory about Rolo is that he is Nunnally's twin XD
...then again, Marianne seemed to be planning things with Charles, at least she knew much more than what it seems.
But Marianne would not separate a child from her, so they either make her think the boy had died at birth, or they told him he was a very sick and then took him away, eventually telling her he died.

THAT would be awesome, especially when/if he goes berserk :D

Erm, I really have no idea. I've never thought about that before actually. It does seem a little sketchy how Rollo was given his Geass. Then again, we still don't know everything about the kid yet. I'll probably just go for the idea that V.V just became convinced for reasons unbeknown to us yet, that it would be useful for him to have another contract with a little six-year old. *shrug*

First time I saw Rolo, I really thought he was Nunnally's twin or something. They do have similar hair color and facial features. Plus, Rolo has somewhat purple eyes too.

And I also thought Nunnally turned into a boy... That was a crazy idea. ^_^

No idea why, but it's worth pointing out that Rolo wasn't the only six year old orphan given a Geass. Which is interesting - Mao and Rolo's similarities could be coincidental, but hey, orphans are always prime guinea pigs for dangerous medical tests and the like :P.

I wonder if the person who gives the Geass influences what it will be, or if it's somehow tied to the receiver's personality and needs? It seems like the latter... I'm not fond of C.C. but she's not the type of person to intentionally give a power like Mao's. I think there's more to Rolo than random orphan - there would have to be a reason why he'd want to stop time. And his resemblance to Nunnaly does suggest that they're somehow related... perhaps an illegitimate child? Also, a power like Rolo's would be very useful for setting up Marianne's suspicious murder.

Wow, valid point. That never occurred to me, although it's pretty apparent. The "what the person desires is what geass they'll get" thing, that is. That's very true. Now I'm curiously hungry for an explanation about Rolo's Geass<3

You know... I've never actually really thought about it before o_o

I guess I always assumed Sunrise would clear it up someday, cause if they don't I'll be storming their building with a little rebellion of my own. But now that you mention it, it is rather odd.

I'm guessing V.V. doesn't care who he hands a Geass out to, or I'm assuming he hands it out whenever he sees a use for it at the time or in the future. This is assuming he saw some grand potential in Charles, and also assuming hes the one who gave Orange-kun his Geass (which now that I think about it is probably a given).

I can't really see any rhyme or reason to how V.V. does his thing. But again I just assumed Sunrise would magically grow a nice bone and explain it.

I think you may be right. See Rolo and Lelouch appearances are quite alike. Besides, consider that Lelouch planned to use him then cast him away eventually, that would be a horrible twist. Someone should write a fanfic about this XD

someone beside v2 could have gave rolo his geass at a very young age then charlie and v2 find him and tell him that it was v2 who gave him the geass
