Something I noticed..

Alright so I was watching episode 16 of season 1 and I noticed something. I wasn't sure so I listened to it a couple times. I had always thought the subs were a bit off on it and listening to it more carefully she says to Mao roughly, "Go and wait for me, in the world of C" it was translated as world of death but after finding out about the World of C I just figured it was that. If this has been brought up before forgive me, I'm a bit new to the community ^^ I just found it curious and wondered if anyone else noticed it.

YES! Well, "shi" does mean death in Japanese so that's why they would translate it like that. But what a good thing to bring up now. :O

Maybe it is Mao, Lelouch will meet in that world?

I don't know, I wasn't really paying attention I just kind of noticed something. So I said to myself, wait a second let me go back and listen to it and it wasn't really clear until a few more times. Then it clicked because I thought to myself it couldn't just be a coencidence that we are hearing about the world of C and C.C. makes a reference to it.

Don't you just love this little obscure references they stick in things so you can watch it and later and say? Oh it was so obvious!

wow, that makes lots of sense! I rarely notice those kinds of things, since my knowledge of japanese is uber poor. Good listening!
Though back in ep 12(I think...?) when Cornelia arrives at the temple and Bartley (or however his name is written) tells her that they are there because of the emperor she calls him, "Chichi??", which made me LOL. You would think she'd at least say otou-san, or even otou-sama, but Chichi!Emperor is very kawaii and so unlike her <____< (I know chichi also means dad, but very casual XD)

If I remember correctly, 'chichi' is used when talking about your father. If she said 'otousan' it would be refering to someone else's father. (but one would call their father otousan when talking to him).
So if she was talking to someone else about her father, she would use chichi, not otousan. But still, its a bit weird for her to even use that, you think she'd call him the emperor or something.

Just to add, Cornelia says Chichi-ue. It usually used to call a father with high respect. (That's what I asked my friend who takes up Japanese...I'm not even sure.)

if she said 'chichi-ue' then that definately is very respectful. and yes you are correct, 'ue' is as such.
(I did japanese for 5 years.. but havent spoken a word in the past 6 months XD)

Yes, it's "World of C" in S1 16, but no one knew/heard of the World of C and subbers didn't use closed caps until recently, so it was assumed as "shi" as in "death".

that also reminds me when the emperor said he already spoke to clovis. perhaps this had to do with the world of c as well?
