I just watched eps 22-23 of season one last night, Suzaku really changes in those eps, and so does Lelouch... I don't think they could go back after that...
After watching those Bastard Suzaku made more sense (I'd forgotten how painful 23 was) and made me love him again. But i don't think he can go back at all.
