So today, I was looking at ANN's R2 episode page with [profile] suruma, and the three next episode titles caught my eye:

2008-08-24 20. Emperor Disqualification
皇帝 失格
2008-08-31 21. Connection of Ragnarok
ラグナレク の 接続
2008-09-07 22. Emperor Lelouch
皇帝 ルルーシュ

I, of course, was shocked at the Turn 22 name, so we looked up "Ragnarok" on Wikipedia, and got this:

In Norse mythology, Ragnarök (IPA: /rɑgnɑrɔk/, Old Norse "Final destiny of the gods"[2]) refers to a series of major events, including a great battle foretold to ultimately result in the death of a number of major figures (including the gods Odin, Thor, Freyr, Heimdall, and the jötunn Loki), the occurrence of various natural disasters, and the subsequent submersion of the world in water. Afterwards, the world resurfaces anew and fertile, the surviving gods meet, and the world is repopulated by two human survivors.
tl;dr: A major battle that results of the death of major figures, natural disasters and the world is flooded with water. Two human survivors eventually populate the world.

So, what does this mean for future episodes, or I am looking too deep into this? Is Sunrise going to screw us over with this?

Also, I'm not sure if I tagged this properly.

PLEASE cut for spoilers.

It's been my theory for a while now that Suzaku and Lelouch will be the last men standing in this war. They'll achieve their dream of a free Japan, but both of them are going to be broken in horribly tragic ways, having lost everything they hold dear except each other. Whether that means that they reconnect or seperate, I'm not sure. Aaah, I expect that it will be wonderfully depressing.

General rule of thumb: If you don't know if it should go under a cut, put it under one.

Mostly due to the episode titles, people will want it cut.

The episode titles should be cut, yes...^^°°°

And I do think that Ragnarök will mean something epic like one big battle or something, but I'm not sure exactly what yet...

Big epic battle, lots of major deaths, natural disasters, "gods" meeting = want.

Repopulation = do not want.

My mindset is to EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED with Sunrise. They're tricky motherfuckers.

I like the "Emperor Lelouch" one :D
Then, from episode 23-26 we will see his nice and cosy daily life as emperor together with kallen, C.C. and the found-again-Nunnally (and maybe Suzaku)! Yay! XD

This.

Besides, doesn't it say in the ep summary for "Emperor Lelouch" that the UFN and Britannia are still at war? I would assume that they're not referring to just Lelouch and Suzaku. >_>

2008-08-24 20. Emperor Disqualification
皇帝 失格

I still would translate that as 'elimination' instead of 'disqualification'. Fits the context better, but oh well... It's either Schneizel (and possibly others) abandoning Charles, or some people's rights to succeed Charles Schneizel, lol get snatched away by Charles himself. Or it could be Charles discarding the throne for the title of the 'Savior of the World'. I believe Charles would consider himself a savior, because the world that is full of lies is evil to him. Otherwise, we can call him the 'Destroyer' instead.

I'm most surprised at 'Emperor Lelouch', though. What the hell's going to happen?

And Ragnarok + the subsequent submersion of the world in water + extended preview + penguins.... Believable :P

I'm most interested in "Emporer Lelouch". I wonder what that means.

Hmm, I thought I should give my two cents because I always make up the craziest theories and, even though I don't believe them myself, sometimes they turn out to be true because it's Geass after all...
You know what the Animedia spoilers for turn 22 (right after the ragnarok) say. That bullshit about extreme powers clashing, and "fate of numerous men and women being changed, interwined, and together they begin to spin a new story". I was like 'haha adam and eve?' when I read this, but well, the Emperor wants to destroy this world and create a new one, and he is all "just as planned" because of the way Schneizel is fighting. And there is this Ragnarök thing, I have limited knowledge on it because of that online game, lol. But I know how it is all about a big fight between opposite forces that destroyed the world and then after BLOWING SHIT the survivors (four survivors... right?) repopulated it etc. And well, as we all know Geass sometimes bases facts on pre-christian mythology. So... I'm afraid they will really destroy the world and all...
Then again, I only know about spoilers up to turn 22. I don't know if there is something else out there.
Anyway.
...

What am I saying? SORRY, IT'S THE ROLO EFFECT. But if it's really their intention it's worth a laugh or two. Enjoy.

Lelouch evolves into a Empoleon becoming Emperor of all the penguins.

Well, Charles did say in Ep.19 he'd have to use that power to destroy the world and create a new one.

The title would fit then.

I'm lovin' that last title. Lelouch becomming emperor has been kind of my secret "do want" since episode 3, I'll confess. Second only to him dying after mortally wounding Charles, because I'm always down for more Arthurian-style shit.

As far as Ragnarok goes... I don't know, if they have just two people survive, I'm going to have End of Eva flashbacks and kind of sob into my keyboard brokenly, so I'm hoping it's just a coincidence.
