See, I never had that problem with R1. Maybe because I've watched other series with bigger plot holes and thus had to go on a lot longer (*coughygocough*). Like I said to susure a few comments above, it was the latter half of Season 1 that I really felt excelled in story telling. If the series went on for maybe another season, I think it'd be a lot easier to expand the story to encompass all the necessary plots used. I think it was because I thought it would go on for more than 2 seasons that I thought the plotholes could be later filled and/or explained.
