1. The only point of the China arc was to get them on Zero's team. Aka, pointlessly bloat the cast.
4. I guess it's the fact that before Guren, no non-Brit country even had decent Knightmares and now they're mech rivals with Japan (or, the Black Knights at least), hence the upgrades back and forth. It'll all be over soon- the last new KMF in the series is probably Lancelot Albion.
