Knight of Round Cape Help?

I'm looking for some helpful advice on making a pattern for the Knight of Round cape. I know I'm taking a big risk by asking this here in the main community, but I do not want to screw up my fabric. Normally, I don't care too much, but the material I'm using for Nomette's cape was really expensive. Also, what did you guys use for the material of your cape? I'm rather curious.
