Well, the fandom has a strong bias toward certain pairings—which is fine!—I just don't see why you have to necessarily hate a character or a pairing just to like your yaoi one as well. For example, I love Suzaku/Euphemia, Suzaku/Kallen, and am even lukewarm on Suzaku/Anya, but I also enjoy Suzaku/Gino quite a bit (even more after this episode). I don't see why I have to necessarily hate one of the aforementioned or the latter for having that kind of interaction, especially canonical interaction (see: with Euphemia).
Given the fandom's preference toward yaoi, it tends to lead toward a lot of girl bashing, unfortunately, but it happens in many other fandoms, too (for example: in Vampire Knight, the two main pairings are heterosexual, and it's a love triangle, so someone ends up getting the "STUPID DICK MUST DIE" label in the end). I don't see why you can't just overlook one.
But I guess I'm idealistic. It makes me embittered toward certain pairings because of the behavior that tends to come with it.
