I think the animators give to these magazines some highlights of all the serie in order for them to draw pictures that actually can fit in the episodes. If they knew highlights only for a part of the plot they might, who knows, draw even things that in the end would end up being the opposite to what it happens. So probably they said. "ok this chara lives, this chara dies, this one will die in the very end, this one will get married etc etc. Knowing these kind of things, the ones who provide art for the magazines know exactly what they can draw and what it's better not to...
