Yup, Lancelot was a French creation. :D He wasn't in the original Arthurian legend. Maybe they will reveal the King's name in the next part?
No really, after the Roman invasion, there were the Anglo-Saxon and Viking ones, then Normans. I am no linguist, so I am guessing here. But if the Celtic kings really kept their throne, then Britannia would be speaking Gaelic now, not Anglo-Saxon based English. Plus there would no (or much less, I suppose) French influenced-words in their vocab.
As for ATB and roman alphabets, I really have no idea.
