Lancelot had swords, there's the sword of Akasha, Damocles probably takes it's name from the story about 'Damocles' sword', Toudo and his men used swords to fight with their Knightmares, Xing-Ke also was a swordman... Even if I think the whole thing was Lelouch's plan to make another spectacular Zero. Suzaku, on his own, wouldn't manage to make a show like the one Lelouch did when he freed him so Lelouc studied a spectacular script Suzaku could follow... (run through bullets, jump unspeakable heights, stab me, stand there in a stony hero position and get awed at...)
