The Geass main site just updated with information that there is a possibility that there will be a OAV AND a movie treatment if my translation is correct. Awesome news XD! Also, it seems the airing schedule for ep. 24 and 25 is still uncertain.

Information from here:

Actually, it just mentioned that there will be a sequel but they haven't decide on whether the sequel will be in the format of a second season, an OAV or a movie.

Damn the stupid recap episodes! If it wasn't for those we'd have our episodes 24 and 25. >_< I hate recaps...they are a waste of space and pointless. Gundam Seed/Destiny was also plagued by recap episodes...only there is was worse because the recaps actually took away time from the season (for instance it wouldn't be ep. 17.5, but would actually take up episode 17. It was REALLY annoying.) Sunrise is too fond of recaps. But I am glad the series is continuing at least.

Lol, I would guess so. I never even bothered looking at it, soo~. And it's not rush for me.. as long as they don't cancel. XD;

To all fans of the Code Geass series, this is big news.

It has been decided that Code Geass will have a sequel.
The TV series, OVAs and movie plans are not confirmed at this point in time.

Below is the message from "Kawaguchi" (I can't read Japanese names too well, but he is the Sunrise Producer for this series):

Ever since the first airing in October of last year, I would like to use this opportunity to thank the fans for supporting this series all this time.
Because of you fans, what started from Director Taniguchi and the rest of the crew have been able to make it where we are today.
Thank you very much.

The program is planned to stop for a brief time after STAGE 23, but after STAGE 24 and 25 are planned to air.
For the airing times of these episodes, we'll keep you informed.

We are also planning on a sequel and is in planning.
We will inform you as info becomes available.

We hope you enjoy Code Geass as you always have in the future episodes.

Kawaguchi
Sunrise/Producer

Due to the airing of the "summary episode" (those XX.5 eps) we were not able to air STAGE 24 and 25 at the end of the month as planned. We will however, currently negotiating with the TV broadcasters to figure out a time of when to air these episodes. We'll keep you informed on the main site.

Eh? SEQUEL? As in totally separate from the second season? I hope they're really talking about the second season, because "sequel" makes it sound like something's gonna happen to Lelouch that will fundamentally change the show enough to make it separate from the current series (read: death). And I don't want that... Lelouch is my lifeline to this series, lol.

I'm glad that there's a possibility of a movie and OVA ^_^ But I don't get it why they also said that the "TV series" was also a possibility x_X I thought the next TV series will be the 2nd season. *confused*

hmmmm I'm wondering how this is going to work... a sequel to implies awhile after the first thing... so it would happen awhile later... I don't think I want that... I'm not sure what I want >>; I mean a second season would be cool, but if they could fit all of the awesomeness of Code geass into an OVA that would be cool too... I don't think I'd want a movie because it means I'd have to wait like 6 months after it came out for the DVD version, not to mention I'd be waiting like a year before the movie was in theaters making it like a year and a half.... so I think a second TV series would be good.

Erm, that announcement is actually.....fairly discomforting. It doesn't say there might be OAVs and movies...

What it said is "We have not decided yet whether the continuation [of Code Geass Season 1] would be a TV series, OAV, or motion picture".

So we might just get Code Geass Zwei instead of Code Geass Season 2. I would LOVE THEM FOREVER if we get OAV supplement, but not the continuation. DDDD:

I haven't been really caught up with the news lately.. so I had no idea what those first few setneces were implying... I only wrote directly what I saw, it's odd.

It did give me the impression it felt more like bad news than good news for some reason, yeah. Just by context.

*blinks* Hai? (I did not, er, look through comments. Was there anything I said wrong...?)

I'm not too worried, since with CG's popularity it'd be silly to make it into OAVs. And movies are unlikely to answer all the remaining questions, so...but it's not encouraging that they feel the need to mention it. :s

I don't know why it's even an issue with them since isn't Geass one of the hottest shows out in Japan right now?
Date/Time: 2007-03-09 16:37 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] verity-isle.livejournal.com
I think it's the hottest show, even. Hard to find the three big-name mags without a Geass cover...and even when it doesn't, it always has a booklet or a scoop.

*sigh* For now, I'll just focus on bitching until we get the final two episodes before I decide what I really want out of a Geass sequel.

Nope, not really. I was just saying when I was attempting to translate... I could translate b/c I didn't know the news too well, so all I did was translate directly. XD;

Ohhhh, I see. I dunno, really. o.o I guess you could look at it that way.
I thought it was just there to reinforce the idea.

This is disturbing. >_< I want a TV series damnit. One, we get to see episodes on a weekly basis (I need my CG fix!) and two a TV series would probably be longer. That means more time to really wrap up the series in a proper manner. An OAV and Movie on top of a second TV series would be fabulous, but not as a replacement. I don't get it? The show seems popular, there shouldn't even be a debate about it having a second TV season.

I'm not very sure either.. but perhaps there were rumors of it and they just wanted to clarify? I don't really know.

I sure hope second season = second TV series. =o Because if not, there might be a lot of things left unanswered.

Marketing tactics, I guess? Create uncertainty to generate continuous interest and all that rot. Code Geass is freaking popular as it is...everyone on the Japanese fandom also pretty much assumed it'll be a TV series. I see no reason other than that for the crew to debate.

UNLESS THEY DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH PLOT LEFT WHICH IS IMPOSSIBLE.
