Hello all.
Thank you all for all the new info on the Lelouch Birthday event! I thought I'd do my share by doing a brief translation of the 30 min drama. :) Forgive me for not translating line-to-line. ^^; There are still a few lines I don't understand completely but be assured that I know what I post. :P
Um...only doing this because I looked around and it didn't look like someone fully translated it so. Owo; Forgive me if it were done already.
The scene started with Rivalz asking for help from Lelouch on the school festival. Lelouch commented that it was Rivalz's own fault for leaving things to the last minute. The narrator explained that this is the scene of the Ashford school.
Rolo and Kallen arrived, Rolo said he happily completed the assignment Lelouch gave him and Kallen complaint that all he did was order people around. Rolo said it was because Onii-san trusted them, and the narrator commented on Rolo's goody-goody behavior in front of Lelouch when Kallen jumped at the sound of narration and asked "Who was that!?"
The narrator began to describe how Kallen wanted Lelouch to praise her like he did with Rolo and Kallen shut him up saying "don't put your words into my mouth" and "who the hell are you!?" Narrator replied saying you shouldn't make fun of the narrator. Kallen remembered his voice and said "you're that guy who's weird in the head!" The narrator (Orange) got mad and Lelouch calmed him down, saying he should get back to narration. The narrator replied "YES! YOUR MAJESTY!" Kallen couldn't believe the narrator has to answer to Lelouch and Rolo said that reply was so weird. However, it did give Rivalz and idea of using "Yes Your Majesty" as greetings on the day of school festival. Rolo thought it was a stupid idea until Lelouch agreed it was a good idea and Rolo beamed "I think so too, Onii-san!" Kallen couldn't believe the way Rolo behaved...
Thus Rivalz tried to get everyone to say "Yes Your Majesty". Note this is the audience participation part of the show, which was originally aired during the Dec 5 Lelouch's birthday event in Japan. Rivalz noticed the reply wasn't all that great. Kallen said it's because he lacks good leadership skills. Lelouch said his pronunciation was wrong, it should be "Yes Your MaJESty *accent on JES*" (which is totally not the way orz orz orz Oh Geass Engrish). Rolo commented on Lelouch's pronunciation and told everyone to follow on Lelouch's cue instead of Rivalz.
Rivalz started crying because everyone followed Lelouch's command instead. Suzaku, Nunnally, Shirley and Nina arrived asking what can they help out on. When Lelouch was allocating task, C.C. came in and said she'd be in charge of pizza (and tasting). Lelouch was shocked and asked why was she there. Nunnally said she was helping out in the club house. Suzaku asked (too innocently) "she's your girlfriend, right?" followed by gasps from both Shirley and Kallen.
Lelouch was halted them and asked C.C. what did she say to them. She explained she merely told to truth, ie they share a common secret, and that he proposed to her. Lelouch fought back saying "When did I do that!? Year, date, time to the second!?" C.C. said that was as immature as a school kid. Shirley melted away upon hearing Lelouch proposed.
Suzaku suggested the wedding ceremony to be held at Kururugi temple, and Nunnally agreed that it'd be great. Lelouch said Suzaku wasn't getting it, and Suzaku replied saying he did understand. Suzaku commented saying this will keep him at bay with all his lady friends, and Lelouch suddenly understood that him and C.C. had a pack (OMG Suzaku are you jealous? LOL).
Then the Chinese invaded Ashford and gained control. Milly broadcast the event and wish for everyone's safety. As everyone worried, Lelouch said it was the terrorists' bad day for picking this school. C.C. said here stood the monster that can use highly skilled tactic plans and turn any situation around. Kallen said if here's a monster here it'd be C.C., since she was the most inhuman one. C.C. acted dumb while Nina came up with an idea of using a using something similar to the Freya bomb...(LOL) Of course everyone stopped her and said leave it to Lelouch. Lelouch explained his tactic and proceeded with the plan.
The first part involved C.C. and Lelouch stepping out the club house to face the guards. C.C. taunt them to shoot her and they did. When she didn't die they got scared and called her a monster. Lelouch said the terrorists are guilty of humiliating C.C. and scaring Nunnally. He used Geass and ordered them to trap themselves in the toilet. C.C. asked why didn't he kill them. Lelouch said he didn't want to draw blood in this place. C.C. commented is it because this is a place that's of high importance to him. Meanwhile, Rolo said they've successfully captured the enemy's Knightmare and will meet up with them.
The scene switched to the Chinese command centre, who are loosing control of their crew. Meanwhile, Kallen and Suzaku walked down the hall, Kallen commented saying Suzaku was pretty rash back there with his attacks, and Suzaku in turn said she was pretty skanky herself. She said she was not as bad as him and said he did it back then with his Lancelet. Suzaku said "You mean the Kurukuru-kick?" (LOLOLOLOLOL) Kallen was somewhat stunned "That was the name of the move?" Suzaku said the original name was too long so it was shortened. Kallen noted the original name had nothing in common with "Kurukuru" and Suzaku said it was Todo (his sensei) who came up with it, because Suzaku's name is "Kururugi". They both though Todo was kinda lame that that point...
On the other hand Rolo met up with Lelouch and company and began to advance. Nunnally wondered what happened to the terrorists and Lelouch said they're probably all in the toilet. Nunnally thought it was a joke.
Then it entered a kind of serious moment. Nina said she thought she wanted to say something to Shirley but couldn't remember what it was. Shirley said don't worry about it for now and it'd come when it comes. Nunnally and Rolo also had a talk; Nunnally said since they're both Lelouch's sibling does that make her Rolo's little or bigger sister. Rolo was stunned for a bit as Nunnally went on to ask what was his feeling when mother died, and why couldn't she remember him.
Just then Lelouch got a call from who he thought was Kallen, but it turned out to be the Chinese leader saying Suzaku and Kallen are in his hand. Rolo and Lelouch thought it was only possible to capture those two with the power of Geass.
They met with the Chinese leader, Lelouch asked for Kallen and Suzaku's safety. The bad guy said it was pathetic for him to care for friends when he has no money and no power. Lelouch again asked where his friends are, and the terrorist said they're in the pot he's holding. Everyone thought he was lying except C.C. who said she'd seen that pot before while traveling around the world to learn about the secret of Geass. The terrorist used Nunnally as a test subject and called her name. As she answered, her soul was sucked into the pot. (it's actually a tool from the Journey to the West story) Lelouch was mad but he accepted that the pot was for real. C.C. said not to worry, as long as the called don't reply they're fine. But as the terrorist said she was beautify and live up to the name of a high-class lady, it got over her head and answered to her name, thus losing her soul.
Lelouch tried to think of a tactic to beat the terrorist who won't work with Geass. Then he thought of a plan and told the terrorist to call his name, except he won't be called Lelouch, but Zero, as he transformed. (I don't know how he did it either orz) Just as the Chinese tried to call him, Lelouch cued Rolo to use Geass.
Again it entered into audience participation. It seems they were all given Zero masks when they entered the event, so he Geassed everyone to wear the mask. Rolo said there're still people not wearing it, and Lelouch said something similar to "hey, you in the back seat, hurry it up" (LOL). Rolo said there're still maskless people and Lelouch said it's okay they're staff. Rolo: "STAFF!? O_o"
Lelouch explained that the pot is named "Pot of a thousand people" so it has a limit of 1000. As long as when the Chinese called Zero and everyone answers it'd be overloaded. Lelouch told everyone to scream "Yes your majesty" when he called, and did a few practice runs, all while Rolo was still using Geass (OwO; poor Rolo). Lelouch was saying "Do you want to kill Rolo? Give it your best and scream!" Once he was satisfied they carried out the plan and broke the pot.
(I seriously wonder was there really more than a thousand at the event but anywho...Owo;)
Rolo and C.C. made sure everyone in the audience got their souls back. While the Chinese moved on to using gun instead Suzaku did his Kurukuru-kick and defeated him. Kallen also showed up, and everyone was relieved that they were both safe. Rivalz said it was the power of the student council. Before the terrorist can escape, C.C. caught him. Lelouch said it was time to give him his punishment. Everyone agreed and said "Yes your majesty".
Milly again broadcast the latest development. She got emotional upon learning that everyone was safe.
The scene switched back to Lelouch and company, who stood at the aftermath of the police's ambush scene. Lelouch reflected saying the terrorist was right, he had no power and no army. He reminiscence that he once had it all, money, power and the world, but what was important was in front of him all along.
Then it was followed by his "last words" as previously translated on the comm:
"I'm sorry, Rivalz, for not saying anything to you, even to the end."
"Nina, it ends here for me but it's only the beginning to you. Don't worry, your talents are the real thing."
(Kallen noted his body is disappearing)
"Kallen, so you've returned to school." (Kallen said it was because her mom is fine now, she added but she was always her true self when inside the Knightmare, and Lelouch continued saying) "Don't give up, just go ahead and grasp everything."
(Nunnally said it was as if he's saying good-bye.)
"Nunnally, you can now see clearly. The truth of the world, difference between right and wrong, and your own future."
(Nunnally thought it was weird that he's saying that until she opened her eyes and can see his face)
(Suzaku told Lelouch to wait)
"Suzaku, I leave tomorrow to you. You have the power and the responsibility."
"Thank you, everyone. Not for yesterday, not for tomorrow, but just for today."
As Lelouch disappeared the group noticed Shirley, Rolo and C.C weren't there either. Nunnully finally understood. She asked Kallen what date was it. Kallen replied it was Dec 5, and Suzaku realized it too. Nunnally said it was because it was Lelouch's birthday, so it wasn't impossible that miracles happened. Nunnally said Lelouch has given them lots of miracles. Rivalz agreed and added it wasn't only them, he gave the world a miraculous present called "peace". Nina said they'll treasure this miracle forever.
The scenes continued back to everyone's daily life with everyone narrating their thoughts, which tied in with the serious moment from before. (I thought these are quite important lines as some of them are really touching)
Kallen - "Idiot! I wanted to forget, now there's no way that's going to happen."
Nina - "Now I remember what I was going to say to you, Shirley. 'Thank you for befriending me.'"
Nunnally - "Rolo, I know for sure we'd get along, because we both love our older brother very much."
Suzaku - "You don't need to say thank you to me, Lelouch. After all, this is your sin. But for today: Happy Birthday, Lelouch."
END
The last scene with Lelouch's face may seem weird for being so long but I am guessing this is when the staff come out and give their thanks to the audience as the scene serves as a back drop.
If there are points you think I missed but you'd like to know the translation of, don't hesitate to hit reply and ask me! :)

I wonder if in the storyboarding, they chose the move on account of the name, or if it was just a fortuitous and amusing accident.

Though that's just my personal interpretation. I'm sure people who actually understand him could be more conclusive.
(no subject)
I thought a lot of the issues he had with Lelouch were resolved by the end of the show and by the rest of his dialogue in this special he seemed like he was ok with Lelouch (poking fun at him over the thing with C.C., asking him to wait at the end while he was fading away) so it doesn't make sense to me that he'd go back to blaming him.
I dunno. I obsess over the weirdest things. Thanks for your input!
(no subject)
But the wording isn't real clear (What, exactly is "this" referring to?), so it's all just guesswork, really, given we can't exactly nitpick the Japanese.
(no subject)
The line about them having the same love for Lelouch also puzzled me. I don't think Rolo's love for Lelouch matched that which Nunally felt. Rolo knew losing Nunnally would make Lelouch super sad, and planned to kill her anyway. But when you love someone, making them sad is the last thing you want to do, so to me it seems that Rolo's greatest love was for himself. Most of his actions were done to gratify his own need to have Lelouch to himself. It seemed like less of a love for Lelouch as a person, and more like a love of Lelouch because of the brother role he represented.
Sorry...I'm not trying to go on a rant, I'm just trying to work through why the interactions between these two seem to ring false to me here. So to end on a more positive note, thank you very much, Piggy Hoho, for translating this. Your efforts are appreciated. =)
(no subject)
They probably assume Rolo gained a better understanding of things after going off to a better place - and note that Nunnally is the one making all the statements here; she doesn't seem to be aware that Rolo actually tried to kill her once.
(no subject)
Mind you this is my interpretation so you're free to disagree but...
well, Nunnally have no idea he tried to kill her nor he realy get to know him before, as for Rolo he's conveniently behind her back.
Either way my guess is that Rolo was pretending to be an affectionate brother mostly for Lelouch's sake (or his own 'let's get a good chance at stabbing her' wish), kind of like he switched his opinions when Lelouch agreed on something and how in the anime faked friendship with Lelouch's friends.
[If this had been more crack I figure when they began saying 'I'm brother's little sister' and 'I'm brother's little brother' we could have had a match between them about who's closer to Lelouch.]
Anyway, Nunnally talked as if she considered him her brother (though she had no idea if he was younger or older than her) instead than acting jealous and he looked confuse so I guess he considered the chance to get not only a big brother but a little sister as well.
His hate for Nunnally was, after all, due to the fear he had to be replaced and his wish to keep Lelouch for himself. If she weren't to steal Lelouch and was going to be also part of his family maybe he would grow fond of her as he did with Lelouch (remember he also considered killing Lelouch earlier in the serie).
Also Rolo has obviously a wrong vision of relations. Rember VV (who could be considered his 'relative/tutor' of some sort) considered him and all the kids disposable and, apart than with Lelouch, Rolo acted with the others following that belief.
In short he believes he could be considered disposable (look how hard he tries helping Lelouch, trying to make himself important in his eyes) but prefers to dispose of Nunnally instead, so he'll have no rivals and Lelouch would have no way to dispose of him.
His love is surely not of the altruistic type but that's also because he hadn't reached the maturity and the independence for it like a child that clings to his mother and doesn't want her to care for his little brother.
He makes a mistake in judging Lelouch's relations with others because, to Lelouch, they aren't disposable/replaceable (though sometimes he acts as if they were) but that's mostly out of immaturity.
Sure, at his age he should have been more mature but he didn't really have the chance to experience normal life for long, just a year, so he's emotionally a child of one year old.
When he realized he couldn't replace Lelouch, instead than killing him as he had promised to do should Lelouch break their promise, he gave his life to save him so, I figure/hope, had he had more time, he would have grown to become a better person.
All this to say Rolo/s behaviour was mostly a product of the environment he grew up in (raised by people who saw him as a disposable tool and used him to kill from when he was a child, asking him to do so in such a way that put his life in serious danger) more than a person selfish for nature.
(no subject)
Nunnally's love for Lelouch isn't perfect either. When Lelouch posed as evil emperor she tried only once to 'bring him back' and when he didn't agree she lost faith in him.
Instead than keep on telling him she didn't believe him to be evil, that he had to have a reason but that he was doing the wrong thing she accused him of being a monster (after firing Fleya on him). Where Rolo wanted to save him despite being told Lelouch had tried to kill him, Nunnally choose to give up on reasoning with him and sacrifice him in order to save others.
There's to say she's young and inexperienced, manipulated by Schneizer, there were other people in danger and Lelouch hadn't behaved well when she first talked to him (and in that conversation she was willing to give him the benefit of doubt) plus no one had been able to figure out Lelouch's plan, not even the smart ones like XingKe, or the ones who knew him well like Kallen, so I don't blame her.
But her love isn't selfless either, just human.
She loved very much Lelouch but lost faith in him and therefore acted against him even though I think it pained her.
In short I think both Nunally and Rolo loved Lelouch very much but each of them his own way and with their own respective faults. As for who loved him more, I don't know but I think it's very nice from Nunnally to recognize and accept Rolo loved her brother very much and that this makes him someone with whom she would have gotten along (though I seem to remember there was an official AU sidestory in which the two both were trying to get Lelouch's attention...)

He's also been taught from early on that good = completing a mission/killing people and bad = not completing a mission. So in his mind, he equates protecting Lelouch, being the only person he can rely on and taking out those that would be "in the way" as the best thing for Lelouch. We know this is wrong, but Rolo really doesn't get it. I really don't think he knew killing Nunnally would upset Lelouch because when we see that she "died" because of the FLEIJA, he says "You have me, Brother". He doesn't see it as a bad thing and he doesn't understand why Lelouch is so upset.
So, yes. Rolo is very selfish and seeking to gratify his own needs rather than understanding that loving someone means being selfless.
Nunnally, on the other hand, is a lot more selfless and caring. She'll care about someone no matter what they've done. She's more open minded that way and would be accepting of Rolo despite his background. She probably understands how much Rolo did care for Lelouch, even if it was misguided. And, what's more, she probably understands how he eventually saves Lelouch in a completely selfless manner. It's that level she can understand.
Anyway, that's my interpretation. Could be off base, though.

I didn't get these though: "Lelouch suddenly understood that him and C.C. had a pack (OMG Suzaku are you jealous? LOL)."
I didn't get the jealousy part ^^; hehehe....

NOW THAT I'VE SAT THROUGH THAT, thank you so much for the amazing translation. It was a blast to read while watching the PD. And the PD... wow, such crack and amazing and hilarious expressions (what the hell, Rolo practically creaming his pants when Lelouch shows up as Zero) and shenanigans combined with such sweetness and baw at the end. Good times, good show, Sunrise.
And I'm surprised how big of a role Rolo got in this compared to the other mains like Kallen, Suzaku, or C.C. Methinks the staff really do have a hard on for him.
Not that I mind.
