Confusion re: CLAMP

When I was reading the official website for credits and I read this:

キャラクターデザイン原案: ＣＬＡＭＰ

Which means the original character designs are by CLAMP. But since then read in several places that it was originally produced/created by CLAMP, so I'm confused.

My Japanese isn't that great (maybe I missed something?), so I ask for comfirmation: What is CLAMP's part in this series? Are they related to the manga? I had believed the anime came before the manga, am I mistaken?

It's weird when several sources all say different things, though I don't see where anything official says these things. -_o

I'm inclinded to believe the official website, and that some fan websites and such are mistaken.

Slayers rocks. Varied tastes are the best. 8D It's always fun to read Berserk and something as fluffy as One Piece right after. Oh god so off topic XD

oh god I do the same thing. You need something fluffy after reading Berserk. Not because it's so gory, but because I'm always depressed for poor poor Guts

Same here. Especially since the wait for the next chapter is like 2-3 months, I really need something to calm my excitement down T.T
