The Code Geass website has updated with an interview with Yoshitaka Kawaguchi here. Can anyone give a stab at translating it if there's anything substantial? (not using google translate please.) He does mention the Akito project.

Gotta go to class right now, but to sum the Akito parts up: he explains their philosophy is "to create something fun". Their intention with Akito is to "expand the Code Geass world". Instead of Director Taniguchi's "masculine literary style" (lolwut), we will have Akane Kazuki's "delicate literary style" o_o and since Akane analyzed the special features of Code Geass, Kawaguchi thinks the resulting new content is "extremely interesting".

No mention of the format yet, I think, but considering how long it's taking and that Kawaguchi also mentioned a few weeks ago in Newtype that they are veeery busy and aim to make 2011 "the Code Geass year"... Well, it should be something big enough?

Taniguchi's "masculine literary style"

lolwhat indeed.

Thanks for the sum though. Hopefully 2011 brings something of good ol' wank good to watch. 8)

Thanks for mentioning at least those tidbits, they're fairly interesting. If there is anything else worth mentioning, that would also be great.

Personally, I'm glad that the production is still moving forward, regardless of how much time it will take. It's also a bit reassuring to see that the year 2011 was explicitly mentioned in one of the Newtype articles, if nothing else. I don't think this had been mentioned around here before.

Now, I'm guessing Kawaguchi was referring to how Taniguchi's directorial style tends to be rather flashy and unsubtle at times while Akane's would apparently be more subtle and gentle, hence the whole "masculine" vs. "delicate (feminine?)" comparison.

Still, I do like the fact that Kazuki Akane is trying to familiarize himself with what makes Code Geass different from other shows. Regardless of the stylistic changes involved, I do think this could contribute to realizing some of the unused potential the original series left behind.
